A bit. A little less hype than the MD421U and a lot less than the MD421 II. The later 421s aren't my favorite honestly. But they're better than 57s in terms of giving something akin to what's in the room.

I have an old beat to shit Audix i5, it sounds great. It's a little bassier than a 57 to me but, I think they sound good

There is nothing good about any Sennheiser mics for guitar. They have the electric razor high end. Been there done that…nice vocal mics though.

no, but unlike others i cant stand the 421 and was thinking of maybe trading it in for one, but i have enough mics. The new Roswell cab mic see
definitely, which is what i tend to go for more often than not. blended with my TLM102 or Soyuz Bomblet i dont have to do much fucking around eq wise in post

The MD441 is very flat. Too flat for 99% of guitar uses. Unless you use the treble boost of course.

I get what you mean. Regarding "room-info" i found the Neve1073dpa to have less of it than the built in mic pres in the Prism Sound Lyra2. That was interesting to discover. Not even sure which MD421 i had. Older Black one with XLR.

Yes, it's a Voice Mic. And good on Toms. e906+421 is an interesting combo though and with a 57 both combos are classics.

Always HATED a 421 
. Audix I5 blended with a 121 was the best mic’s tone I ever got. Now with IRs, I can’t see any reason at all to do it the old fashioned way!!!

Edge of the dust cap. Doing 57/M160 on an alnico loaded cab and 57/421 on my 4x12. Plus my bass cab is next to the 4x12 so it’s easy peasy to move over the 421 which is great for bass. Wouldn’t mind trying an RE20 for bass down the road. If an amp’s quite bright I’ll use just a Ribbon by itself a couple of inches from the cloth and that tends to sound great. I like the Sterling ribbon a lot but it doesn’t play nice in dual mic setups like the M160 because it’s bidirectional.
I also have an AT4050 condensor that sounds good in the place of the 421 or M160 paired with a 57.

Thanks. At first it seems cool. But after a short look it's a cardiod condenser. I didn't like any of these sounds...I watched the Clip with Albini coincidently today. Will try the placement. Maybe even a bit further away with a 57. It's not "a" but "my" 57, cause i only have one. I kept the one i liked better of the 2 i had. Don't know if i want much of my room in the recording. Here's another low volume recording with less gain;

I wanted to try the M160, but never did.
But i tried the Shure KSM313. For Bass i use an AKD D112. I also wanted to try the RE20, because i've seen that Slayer uses it Live.

I tried it several times....Not for me. The new ones have an adjustable impedance curve...Captor X. I’m loving my tones and supposedly the Captor is one of the worst load boxes because of the impedance curve.

Usually all on the cone up against the edge of the dust cap. It all depends on what you’re recording. I mostly plat A440 rock with Marshall tones that are fairly cutting so on the dust cap is overkill on the top end. Also depends on the speaker you’re using. A G12H30 Anniversary is very bright and a Creamback 75 is also fairly bright. I would probably go even a little more away from the dust cap on those or at least angle the 57 a little. But I don’t use those typically for a Marshall and stick with a GB or my F70.Interesting, thanks.
