I would say 9 in a row by Judas Priest......

Starting with album #2 (Sad Wings of Destiny) and ending with album #10 (Defenders of the Faith).

Agreed ,,they lost me on painkiller in their defence the return of Rob Angel of Retribuition was great IMO.

I think the next one with Richie is gonna go back to the Screaming defenders style and be killer

I like painkiller, but good lord Point of Entry is terrible. Only 3 good songs.

Rush
Fly By Night
Caress Of Steel
2112
A Farewell To Kings
Hemispheres
Permanent Waves
Moving Pictures

Nobody beats the setlist that could be created from this consecutive run of albums. This 7 year in a row output of albums '74-'81 destroys all

They influenced almost every band except Zeppelin in this thread & are responsible for countless people learning drums/bass/guitar & writing songs outside of the normal structures, lengths & time signatures!

I would also mention Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, Presto, Roll The Bones, Counterparts, Test For Echo, Vapor Trails, Snakes & Arrows, Feedback & Clockwork Angels..........But then you might think I'm a fanboy!!! lol

Mmmm, Caress of Steel is for the die hard fan.

Pink Floyd:
Ummagumma
Atom Heart Mother
Meddle
DSOTM
Wish You Were Here
Animals
The Wall
Momentary Lapse of Reason
Division Bell

Clutch, because they simply don't suck:

Clutch
Elephant Riders
Pure Rock Fury
Blast Tyrant
Robot Hive/Exodus
From Beale Street to Oblivion
Strange Cousins from the West
Earth Rocker

Add in some great B-side collections like Slow Hole to China and they're that much harder to beat.

I know there aren't a bunch of Dream Theater fans here, but

Awake
Falling in to Infinity
Scenes from a Memory
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Train of Thought
Octavarium
Systematic Chaos.

I think those are all great albums.

Also can't rule out King's X either. I think everything they've done is great, with the exception of Black like Sunday, which was on Really good, not great. I think that's like 9 in a row until BLS.

$.02

I would agree with DT, they have only done a few bad albums. There current stuff is top notch! The albums i dont really like are Octavarium and Falliing in to Infinity. Other than that they are great, SDOIT is OK as well.

BTW you forgot Images and Words!

I would also have to mention Van Halen, whether your a hagar or DLR fan they had had strigns of good albums.

I love me some Flash theme as well, but as an album, not so much.
Likewise, Hot Space has its gem in Under Pressure, but don't dig the rest of its disco danciness.

The Beatles

+1

If we are only going for hard rock and metal bands, than I would say iron maiden.

Surprised by some of the answers actually.

The Beatles

Oh yeah, them! I could pretty much dig on every album beginning to end with the exception of White Album.

Also how About Sabbath..

Black Sabbath
Paranoid
Master's Of Reality
Vol 4.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Sabotage

Deep Purple

Iron Fist
A Perfect Day

Orgasmatron
Rock and Roll
1916
Bastards

Elvis Presley

and Saxon had a good run up through Crusader and of course Thin Lizzy. Gary Moore solo from Corridors through to The Wild Frontier or maybe just to Run For Cover.

Well if we're going with any genre of music...

Prince
Madonna
The Beatles
Brittany Spears
Michael Jackson
The Grateful Dead

I mean the list goes on and on. If we're talking which band/group/artist has the most highest-ranking album releases in a row, that statistic shouldn't be too hard to find. And it would be an objective one. If we're talking which band has the most album releases in a row that we personally like, then that's a different story...
