Which eq pedals are the ticket?

I can't say with authority because I'm not an EQ expert. What I will say is I have been very impressed with @griff10672 Pultec EQ. Pedalboard friendly, and exceedingly powerful controls gave me the control I was after. My long game includes ordering a 2nd one from him because I am so pleased. Gotta have backups!
I also second the PultEQ from GA.

There is a lot of fancy shit out there and you will find a lot of stuff down the EQ rabbit hole......

But the simpler the better IMO and IME and the MXR 6 Band EQ is as good and as simple as it gets ^_^

Also aside from the MXR 6 Band EQ, J Rocket has some good ones based on the 6 Band that are probably as good or better with the Melody EQ/OD and RockAway Steve Stevens SIG EQ/OD.

Definitely worth a look at.

I used to own a Source Audio EQ. The cool thing about it is that you can save up to four EQ presets on the pedal, which is a good way to recall your settings when using it with different amps. It also has a boost knob in case your FX loop lowers or raises the volume of the amp.

There's a newer MKII version out that allows you to run the EQ pedal in stereo. I think this would be a kickass thing to have if you are running two amps simultaneously. To top it off, it is a chromatic tuner and also has a noise gate and limiter built in.

I only sold my EQ1 because I have an Axe FXIII, which covers the same ground. But the EQ2 pedal is much smaller and easier to cart around.

For current new offering, I really like the Ibanez Pentatone eq. The best sounding I ever used is the old TC Dual Param Eq.

I have a plain old GE7.
i dont use it much as an eq. I use it more as a clean boost
the new ones are dead quiet. the older ones i had from the 80s and 90s sounded like a jet

I’ve tried many EQ pedals and I think as long as they don’t introduce any noise, any will work fine. I currently use the Ibanez PTEQ and Mesa 5 band in stereo post amp (in a smiley face) and a Whirlwind EQ10p in front (in a frown pushing mids). Always on.

I hear great things about the GE-7 simple & to the point, but anything parametric is my choice.. you can really sculpt a tone with a controllable Q, & ability to sweep the filter.. currently use the para eq. It’s a bit overkill for guitar, & if you don’t know all your filter types it will quickly overwhelm you lol:

THIS is a better simplified alternative, & will 100% give you way more shaping capabilities than a graphic EQ, & not drive you crazy. To each their own tho.
