Who’s tried Karnivores?

Yeah, this is contradictory to most of the comparison clips I've heard. The top end is different from a V30 and/or Swamp Thang, but it doesn't sound darker to my ears. That description is more like what I hear from a DV-77.
As mentioned, the Swamp Thang has a lot of high end presence, so when I play cabs in stereo with each, you can hear more presence in the Swamp Thang, but more mids in the Karnivore. The Swamp Thang is also louder. The Karnivore could appear brighter if you perceive upper mids as bright, but the Swamp Thang has more of that > 4k range.

I think the Karnivore is brighter than a V30 because it obviously has an extended top end to it, just doesn't have as much high mids.

Where the does the Karnivore stand now that the internet hype has died down?

I still like them a lot, but I have them in a 212, and I just bought 3 4x12s. I want to get 2 more to put them in a 4x12, but they are out of stock until at least February, so they are on the back burner for now.

I still think they sound great though. Like a darker V30 without the nasal mids. However, still more mid focused than say a T75.

I think they got ahead of themselves and are still working out the kinks....hence their current unavailability.

Can’t wait for the Karnivore killer, the Omnivore, within 2 years. Then the hemp cone Herbivore after that.
Then the Insectivore will be released and destroy them all.

I still love them. Been trying mic positions and finding out more of what they’re capable of. Great sounding speakers.

Don’t make me txt you you fucker!!!
How would you compare them to the Hellatone 60L/ celestion V30MF? what little I have read about the type of tone produced sounds like they are pretty much a take on the old Marshall Mode4 V30’s. Smoother top end, no annoying mid spike, and Bigger low end than the normal UKV30…

Not sure I don’t really have experience with either of those variants.

I started micing multiple speakers last night and noticed that they sound pretty different. One is dark and smooth and the other is significantly brighter. I’m gonna start micing the other ones than I have too to compare them all and see if some are better than others. Of the 2 I’ve micd so far, neither is better or worse, but they’re surprisingly different.

What mics and pre's did you use?

Alright, so just to update on Karnivore consistency. I micd 10 Karnivore speakers with a single SM57 over the last 2 days. Placement started off in the center of the cone, and then I just tweaked it slightly to where I felt each speaker sounded the best. 9 of the 10 are extremely similar and consistent. Even given that these are across 3 cabs, the differences aren't much to write home about except the 1 speaker. I have 1 that is a big darker and smoother. Not really much else to report on them haha. The 9 that are similar, maybe have some very small variations in tone that you would expect speaker to speaker. Honestly they're more consistent than all the V30s I've micd over the years haha. But I kind of prefer the darker/smoother one for recording if I'm only micing one. But there's no reason for that, they sound best with this one and the one next to it micd, IMO, so I will likely be rolling with that for a while...micing the top 2 Karnivores in my Mesa OS cab.

Am curious as to what the next available batch will sound like comparatively
