Who's played/owned a HR 25?

This was a quick clip I did when I got the amp w/ a Richie Kotzen Tele.
IMO, the 25 has some advantages over the SLO. Rather than the hi-fi Deyoung tranny, you got one with lowered plate voltage which browns the sound out a bit. Sustaining notes hang on with a blooming feedback, which I never got w/ an SLO. Plus, the loop is better. Plenty of buyers have A/B'd both amps and took the 25 home.

I agree. I A/B'd the HR25 side by side with the SLO and HR50 before buying. To my ears the HR25 won hands down so I ordered one with the tolex I wanted.

I've had mine since early 2015 and it sounds better now than ever. I love it. Can't think of a amp I would trade it for. It just sounds that good.

Oh and here's Lynn's response to why that cable was sent with the amp:
"Lynn Burke (BCM) • 9 years ago
Power Cords (BCM official response) ??? Hey guys/gals, I've been out of town for a last minute vacation and could not respond to your comments earlier as to WHY I sent a Monster Cable MPL 300 to PG Mag for testing of my Soldano 44 BCM amp. I ONLY SENT it as this amp, Serial #2 is my OWN personal 44 as is Serial #1, hence Mike's Signature on the back of the amp chassis. I had an intern in the studio misplace this amp's power cord and only had my OWN PERSONAL MPL 300 at home to send in the box for testing, or a custom one off Solid Cables prototype power cord that was too big to fit in the respective spot in the box to ship. If you live in a rural area as I do, and you experience voltage drop as I do, these cables will help prevent anymore voltage drop from the outlet to the amp. It is also a cord that won't get destroyed if a floor monitor falls on it, been there done that, and it is easy to determine who owns what at the end of the night's gig while loading out. Pure and simple, my amp comes with a STANDARD issue power cord just like every other amp manufacturer on the planet. Sorry, for any confusion, but this are the facts. Thanks so much for checking out my amp as Mike Soldano, Bill Sundt, and I spent 2 long years dialing this thing in, and it does exactly what the review says and then some."

Oh yeah, well that just proves everyone else wrong now. Sorry boy, nice try, but that's just Lynn walking back what he said when someone called him out on it. Shit, I should dig up some old emails and see if I still have the estimate for the $399 power cable and $350 speaker he said would magically make my SLO go from legendary to godly. Yep, I must be lying about the whole story for no particular reason right? Hmmf, whatever man.

Hey shitass, My video and audio clips are all over my YT and FB pages. Wrong again.
Funny thing.....where am I hyping my playing? I look at this thread cause I own a HR-25. Where am I hyping anything? I'm only pointing out the obvious asshole....you.
Again, you critique my playing, yet claim I have no clips. Retard.

"Asshole," "Shitass," and "Retard." Hmmf, that's quite the vocabulary you've got there. Well then, don't keep us all in suspense. Where is the link to your vault of superior playing and gear? Who are you supposed to be? I don't remember seeing your albums on ITunes. Yeah, I listened to a couple of your videos before and remember your playing. How can someone forget that shitty, thinned-out, bullshit legato from a guy who talks like he's a guitar god. Face it, you talk shit and you can't back it up. Then you have the audacity to act like you never said anything of the kind. Criticize me all you want, but at least I don't brag about my playing and gear.

Where am I bragging, fuckhead? Where? You didn't care for any clip I posted? I consider that a compliment. You know nothing about phrasing, vibrato, etc. In fact, based on your clips...listening to you fish for the next note is the sign of a certified hack. That and the fact that you shouldn't jam to shit w/ changes you can't navigate. Notes that are not in tune, bs scales. You can't fake your way out of that kind of backing, and it exposes you as a chump-change punk-ass GC hack at best. Go cry on another thread like the whelped bitch you are.

"Bitch," oh yeah. You're really showcasing your vocabulary there boy. I don't care. Like I said, I play for me and share humbly it so I can contribute some gear sounds or get feedback for improvement. Lots of people do that, but it doesn't deserve criticism. Unlike YOU, I don't go around criticizing other people's playing ability and hype my own. Remember dummy, YOU were the one who initially criticized my playing before even though it had nothing to do with the topic back then. Then when I went to hear yours, it made me wonder how you could be so critical of other people's playing ability. Face it, you just have a big mouth and you can't back up any of your trash talk. STILL no links to your talented playing... Sorry but you just make yourself look like a bigmouth loser.

Go back and read Champ. I questioned your talking BCM as to power cords and speakers. YOU started the playing insults. Asshole.
You obviously are one stupid fuck. I've been on this forum on/ off since it's inception. People have heard me play. Nothing to prove, especially to a tone-deaf hack like you.
Can't wait till you sell of your latest HS-Shop amp and get fucked again.

What is this mystery "high school shop amp" you keep blabbering about? You have a short memory boy, but that's probably because you talk so much smack that you can't even keep up with your own bullshit. It doesn't matter. You're just a waste of time anyway.

* As for the OP and the actual topic of this thread, PM and I can tell you all you want to know about the HR25.

Why should he PM you? Are you the amp Sage? There are good responses (except yours)
What's the resale on that DickWood amp?    You should have spent the $$$$ on a Mel Bay Book.

Yep, you just had to respond in total dick fashion as usual. Look, the truth is that I think you're a helpless little prick. I fucking despise your kind. By the way, I hope you didn't think you redeemed yourself with that shitty video. You sound like a slightly faster version of fucking Steven Segal's contemporary blues shuffle.

HAVING SAID what I think about you, and not giving a rat's ass what you think of me, it's about time you stop doing this little dance every time you cross me in a thread. We need to squash this bullshit. This back and forth crap is fucking stupid. The truth is this: you are eager to troll and I have a temper. It's more you than me and that's just the honest fact, but this shit wouldn't continue if I didn't react to it. Therefore, let's just give this up and agree that we think each other is a big fucking asshole and shitty guitarist and do the "ignore that fucker" thing so that we can participate in threads without fucking them up.

To answer your question: no. I'm no fucking expert, but I'm a fucking great student. I know a lot of things because I learn a lot of things. The reason I offered the OP to PM me is because I wanted to interact with him in regards to the amp without interference from people like you trying to fuck it up. I'm not saying that to start shit back up, just answering your question frankly.

Funny thing is both of those pickups you listed I did not like in my Charvels through this amp. My DeMartini with an RTM though is amazing as is my Music Zoo mahogany natural series with an A2 JB. My issue with the stock JB was that it was just too bright though. Not flubby at all. The AT-1 was just bland sounding with no balls. Once I swapped the A2 into the JB it was awesome.

I can't see the pickups being the root of the funky tone I got out of the HR25 I'm not saying it's not possible but I've never had a pickup cause or cure the tones I got out of the HR25 . Crazy cause the clip I heard of the amp being demoed with Mike Soldano it sounded unbelievable . Does anyone in the Bay Area have one ? Id love to come try it out to see if I had a lemon
Yeah you're probably right I was just saying it was funny you mentioned those two pickups.

What speakers are you running the amp through?

I like the Soldano cabs just fine. They just aren't my favorite. I personally seem to prefer V30's with most my amps, including Soldano's. The V30's just seem to cut through the mix so much better live IMO plus they sound great for home use/practice.

I'm running mine through an EVH 4x12 with the greenbacks. Great combination.

Decided to wake the family up with a quick blast lol! Just propped my phone up on the ping pong table

Man that amp sounds massive!

What effects you rolling thru it?

Just a Dunlop Echoplex in the loop. I sometimes goose it with a RI TS9(actually an 808 RI converted to TS9) that I vintage modded with an '82 JRC4558 chip and correct spec caps, diodes, and FETs. I think I may have had it on in the clip. I didn't look down at my board.

Something must have been wrong with the one you had. Maybe your bias was out of whack. My buddy bought one as soon as he heard mine and I had both at my house for a week while he was away and they sounded identical.

Over the last few days I was thinking maybe the bias was all messed up . Oh well the amps is long gone and I've got my Splawns that I love but....I'm gonna try and play another HR25 if one ever comes around locally

Really cool amps! I wish he did the clean instead of crunch just because for gigging that is better for me. Best small amps in order for me were Wizard MC25, ENGL ironball and then the hot rod 25. Did not sound like a small amp. But I will say the SLO I had crushed it.

I think he has done a few with a clean/crunch switch

That's my Music Zoo mahogany natural Charvel with the JB2. I hated the Custom 5 they put in these.I ripped it out the second I brought that guitar home.  The stock Quarter Pound neck pickup kills though.

Long time no see gents.
Hasn't this been done to death...like '25' times with plenty of threads.

HR25 sounds as 'good' as SLO to my ears. Had them side by side at a friend's house. Fantastic little beast.
