Why do people prefer 4 string bass over a 5 string one?

I have two 5s and one 4, but want to pick up a higher end 4 such as a Modulus or Aria Pro II SB1000.

Only truly need the 5 strings due to my 7 string guitars, and I have to admit that most of the songs I play by far are on my 6 strings at Eb or Drop Db, so 4 strings are plenty and easier to play. I have a feeling the next 4 I buy will become my main bass.

I have one 5 string bass, and three 4-string basses. One of my 4-strings and my 5-string are fretless. My preference is 4-string fretless.

All of my guitars are 6 strings. I play in standard tuning, or half step down.

I grew up playing 6-string guitar and 4-string bass; most of the music I like was made using these. I have no need for more strings;

the only reason I have a 5-string is because it wasn't some shade of shit brown; most 4-string fretless basses without fret lines are some shade of shit brown or dining room furniture burst - I'm talking to you Ibanez. You can have any color fretless 4-string bass as long as it's some shade of shit brown. Really pisses me off. I like gloss; white, black, silver, blue,...my least favorite colors are brown, yellow.

here's an example. This is my Ibanez SRF700 in what I call flat shitburst finish - flat, brown and yellow; but playing-wise it has everything, including extended fretboard, no top fret markers, neck thru, two passive pickups and a piezo bridge with active preamp that can be blended. If this model was in gloss white or gloss black, I'd own both colors, and not this shitburst:

(ebony or richlite fretboard would be better too)

Simple:
Mo strings, Mo problems

It's basic science.
