Wizard Amps: Guys swear by them, clips don't do justice. Are there any clips - even of other amps - that come close?

There's a ton of guys who use them live and in the studio - or, they use them in the studio and use a kemper profile of it live, like Wolf Hoffman.

Richie Faulker (new guy in priest) uses them both live AND in the studio

Matthias Jabs and Rudy Schenker used them both live and in the studio for years and years, not sure if they still do

Dan and Justin Hawkins from the Darkness, Dan still uses them live IIRC

Jeff Waters from Annihilator used them both live and in the studio forever, I think he just got an endorsement with Hughes and Kettner though

And I'm not even a wizard fanboy or something, and these are just off the top of my head
Check Elegant Weapons (side project of Richie Faulkner). They also released a new single today which makes me very excited, I listened Horns for a Halo many times during the last years, great album. In live, Faulkner used MCII as far as I remember. It can also be MTL2, not sure.

Live he uses MCII KT150 into Wizard 412 with Redbacks. Iโ€™d guess itโ€™s the same for recordings

I also noticed it now. He shared a photo including bunch of great amps also a Wizard MCII. With Judas Priest I remember he was using ENGL's but it might be changed. I really want to see Elegant Weapons live

It is a Modern Classic 50 watt. I had variable negative feedback and depth added. Brings it closer to a MC2.

The contour on the MC2 a negative feedback, so essentially it's a MC2 with an added depth knob, so really more than an MC2. The contour is really the only change to the lead channel on the MC2, the big changes were on the rhythm channel. I use a Guptech Quebec in the loop of my MC2 to give it a depth knob for some added low end

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but aside from the rhythm channel, the only difference between the MC and MC2 is a NFB adjustment?
I think every amp should have a NFB control. It was a big part of what separates the MZero from the SLO.
Invaluable on the GZ modded SS.
I wonder how difficult it would be to mod the rhythm channel on an MC to MC2 specs.

When it comes to the lead channel on the MC2... maxing the contour makes the circuit identical to the MC1. The MC2 mk2 also has a pull on the treble that wouldn't be on older MCs...not sure if a new build MC has it...I would assume he would be doing that because it would be easy to add.

The MC50 6L6 I have, I think you told me is a 2023, doesn't have a pull treble.
I would assume max contour on the MC2 has the least amount of NFB = the brightest, most open setting, based on the MC.
That's probably where I'd keep it. I like it like that.

Youโ€™d be surprised how good the amp can sound no matter how the Contour is set. I usually keep mine really low because it sounds more modern and deeper / wider that way. Setting it high is great for a more in your face raw vintage thing though.

My buddy prefers more NFB (less in yo face) on the GZ SS, for that deeper sound and more forgiving attack.
He dislikes the Wizard, because it's so sharp and dynamic. All the reasons I love it.
I'm going to mod the SLO and Wiz with NFB knobs. If they don't sell soon.

Think itโ€™s a late 2022.

Yes. Max contour is like turning the negative feedback off. I run it fairly high on my MC2

You n I like a scrappy NFB setting, while my friend Ray and @TheGreatGreen like a more refined NFB.
It used to drive me crazy when Ray would dial in more NFB on the MZero. Like, WTF man!?! That was the only thing I really liked about the MZero over my SLO, the ability to loosen the reins, let it get wild. I essentially do the same thing by increasing the presence and dialing back the treble in the SLO.
