I spent many hours today dialing in this amp, ab-ing with the Fargen Olde 800. I am in a happy place, for now. Here's something I just recorded on the red channel, Vox DelayLab in the loop:

https://soundcloud.com/bmandrell/xtc-red-gl-trippy

and another:
https://soundcloud.com/bmandrell/xtc-re ... on-maideny

The first clip sounds killer!

The maideny clip was not my cup of tea soundwise. That kind of music asks for more aggressive sound imho. Maybe the blue channel would be a better match? Is this a 6L6 or a EL34 version? Sounds like 6L6s but I guess the XTC sound is coming more from the preamp, so not sure...

Thanks. It's the el34 model.

I agree second clip is thick for that kinda thing. That's where I'm struggling with this amp. It does thick n chewy. Hard to get that tight, biting sound out of it. Even with an od in front. I'm still figuring it out though. Perhaps it's in there, maybe on the blue channel like you suggest.

Oh, I would not have recognized the EL34s.

For the blue channel: that was just a wild guess hearing (many) XTC clips on the web. Unfortunately I never had one (while GASing for one since many years). But in the clips I've heard the blue channel was always less fat and more marshall like. But again, only judged by Internet clips :-(

Nevertheless killer sounds and I don't know another amp that can do these fat sound and smooth sounds. Really unique!
