Lisa, try those Thomastik Power Brights one day. I wonder how you will like them.
I hate strats, but fucking love that neck lol.Sooooo, you're gonna need to come off that Strat, or at least the neck. I can give you my address and I promise to take good care of it.
9's get a certain tightness when playing chords with distortion but sound weak on the single notes.
heaviest i tried was a 12 set. not my cup o tea!I love flatwound strings because they feel smooth on my fingers and last many moons.
LaBella 9-39 Jazz Flats 4 evah! I replace the 9 with a 10 and the 11 with an 11.5 so's I don't breakum.
I haven't liked heavy gauges ever since I found out they were a great way to blow my cuticles and Greenbacks with a 100 watt Marshall driving them. The set I use is basically a jazz set for people with hand/wrist damage or who are handicapped. I'm bluesing so the slinky feel to them is great. Luxuries once sampled became necessities, lol.heaviest i tried was a 12 set. not my cup o tea!
Yes I do. I have a permanently altered cuticle from long nights with a strat and 11-49 at Eb. Liquid skin got me through many of those nights. Another reason I switched to a shorter scale and lighter strings with a lower action. The Lord did not bless me with the kung fu grip like Stevie had so I had to find other ways to accomplish some of those multi step bends.remember the story of SRV ripping his callouses open at a gig bending his 13s, and having to crazy glue them shut and then robbing skin off his right forearm while the glue was still tacky, to provide traction on the surface of the crazy glue tips?
this seems to be a trend!Started off with EB's then moved over to DAddario and haven't looked back!
almost identical evolution. pink super slinkys because everyone used them, DR because they sounded better and lasted longer, elixer 10s because they lasted forever but tone was muted/less twangy.
now d’addario XLs 9s if store bought and stringjoy hybrid set is my fave to order because i think they balance tension better, feel and sound great.
don’t play my acoustic enough to really make an educated choice so martins are my go to.
you my friend are gnarly.Yes I do. I have a permanently altered cuticle from long nights with a strat and 11-49 at Eb. Liquid skin got me through many of those nights. so are you using Stringjoy acoustic sets too?The balanced and create your own sets are what brought me to stringjoy for my ERGs. I am absolutely a fan of NYXL like others here, and which is what I used on them before stringjoys, but I would have to buy multiple sets to create one set that worked for me. As far as acoustics go, it's more of maintaining a balanced sound $$ or adding warmth $$$ or brightness $. So the costs do kind of vary there.
It's funny because when I setup my 2 EBMM's with D'Addario's I have to think about it for a minute LOL. Love the guitars but not a fan of the strings.this seems to be a trend!
can’t tell you how many EB 9s i’ve popped in my lifetime!
