Those Alembics were not cheap.

A friend of mine has had one of the Alembic explorer-shaped basses for decades.....i'd say it's probably the single the nicest instrument I've ever played in my life to be honest. Just mindblowing in all aspects

Pretty sure he got it for cheap back in the day too, and today it's worth a small fortune

I don't know what year this is from, but it's bananas..

I remember those days well. problem was the $400 was unreachable for this then 16yo pothead

i think a key missing ingredient in all of the broader discussion in this thread is majority of people still cannot afford $400, but that credit has been far too loose for for too long....

think of all the finance at 0% for 24/36/48 month promotions that have been running now for the better part of a decade

100%

Putting people into debt has been getting worse over the years.

Wouldn't pay $139 for a Pan LP now. 🤣

a lot of people have gotten used to buying stuff based on "monthly payments", its insanity

there's a lot of us on here, who remember going to a store to try the guitar before buying it. hell trying multiple ones of the same model to get the best sounding one.

people literally place orders for custom shop orders with 4 year waits lol...bizarro world hahaha

It's a trap, preying on the typical broke ass, unemployable musician.. How else will a Pizza Delivery Guy afford a Gibson?? Been there..
Points or miles on a CC?? It's only there to fuck you up..
I've been above water for a while now and cash in on this shit..
I'm waiting for them to pull some bullshit and hammer me with some Fuck You Clause buried in the micro print of their perpetually revised Terms Of Agreement..
It hasn't happened yet, but I think it might as they are pushing for total Paperless Billing..
Once all physical proof is gone, it's all zeros and ones and suspicious extended System Maintenance periods online..
I must be in the minority tho, because it's still there and most people must be in Minimum Monthly Payment Jail..
If they fuck up, they just have an invisible Airplane fly into the side of the Pentagon..

Yea dude, it’s always some scheme to trap the little guy. Funny how no one at “school” teaches financial responsibility! Honestly a lot of the problems in this country would go away if the education system or hell parents taught that to their kids!

Debt is a product that the banks sell to enrich themselves under the guise of helping people get what they want. It puts people into a mindset of "I need this now" instead of just saving up for what you want and owning it outright. Car loans used to be 2-3 year notes..now they can be up to 10 years..absolute insanity. All the gear influencers push all the high end expensive gear when you can get good tone with less expensive gear.

Always use other people's money to make/save money when you can.
$3k guitar with a 2% fee and 0% interest = $0-$1800 out of pocket when paid off four years later.
It's about already having the money on hand and knowing what you're doing.
Even if you let someone else invest for you, you would probably be on the high end of that, still saving $1k+
This is what they should be teaching in school.

absofreakinlutely...this pendulum is gonna swing the other way hard....most people don't remember what interest rates were like in the 70s lol...8% - 11% mortgage rates are gonna shock some folks lol

and imagine what the interest rate on credit cards will be if mortgage rates are that high lolol
