You guys are talking about fizz this and fizz that. That always cracks me up. Listen to this guy's demo of how he mics his guitars. With the close mics you hear a little fizz but mixed with the other room mics it goes away. Imagine when it's in a mix. I'm not saying this guy's tone is the be all end all but really not bad at all for a guy in his bedroom. Quite good actually for a room not designed to record in.

Now if you are talking about the fizz not being as natural as a mic'd tube amp then yes I agree to an extent but not to the point where in a recording it makes a tone sound like total shit or one unit way better than the other.

The obsessing over all this is quite fun to watch.

That's why most youtube videos make amps sound great.

I was talking about obsessing over which modeler sounds better with less fuzz.... dumb ass. My amp buying habits have nothing to do with the obsessing I'm talking about......

or at least I dont think so......

uhhhhhhh..........

Oh shut up Jamie! :D

Wow, while they sounded pretty similiar I'd give the nod to the POD because it's cheaper and the Axe didn't sound better.

They both sound great, but at the price.... The POD is awesome. When they have them set up at the GC's around here it will be interesting to try them out. Axe has to be rethinking the price point though. I am wondering if the marketing types are already planning a POD priced offering.

So did Line 6 get a hold of the Axe-Fx and design these HD POD's to compete? I thought it was only a matter of time before Fractal lit a fire under Line 6's ass and they gave us something that didn't sound like a can of shook up angry bees.

Or Axe making a slimmed down pedal board model.

I'm kinda puzzled when I see some people prefer the POD in this clip. To me the POD sounds just bad, like it has a low pass filter somewhere at 7-8 Khz, which also gives an unnatural nasal sound. Heard exactly the same thing on the other clips Ola posted. The Axe breathes a lot more, has that wonderful high gain fizz and solid low mids, much better and livelier. It's not always about the money, I would never get a tool that does it's job only close to what it should, just because it's cheap. To me, yes, the Axe sounds $1500 better.

To me the axe sounds better by a mile in that clip, also I hear 1500$ better.
Agreed, though neither sound as good as my tube amps. Would rather pay 2-5x more for glass & iron than a computer. Good luck to Fractal with the competition from Line 6; I'm sure they're taking a hit.

nice video! I think the Axe, while not as deep sounding here, sounds much more like an amp, and the POD, while deeper in eq, sounds more processed and fizzy.

Ahhh you're using contradicting terms there. "Deeper in EQ" "more processed" "fizzy", you can't have all of them. Processed sounds tend not to have much fizz, but sound artifically smoothed, a lot of modelers are like this. Deeper in EQ qould also imply this too.

I know it's hard to describe sound but this isn't even trying :(

Makes sense to me. Turn on any Line 6 amp and listen to the processed, fizzy tone. Now add a bunch of low frequencies and you get a deep, fizzy, processed tone.
