Without comparing them side by side it’s just conjecture. I’m sure it’s 75% there; like the JP2C is 85% there(just guessing).
But it’s that remaining difference that makes all the difference in the world, to many. Including me.

sounds similar freq wise but not nearly as fat/much body. The IIC+ is meaty sounding.

Agreed, the GEQ fucking rules, and I’d also take it on any amp. It can do any tone you desire within seconds. And I dig your 80’s Bathory reference.
actually the closest i ever came to that whacky early bathory tone was with a carvin x-100b with an sd-1 in the front, and some plate reverb in the loop. no lows, scoop out the 750 and boost the shit out of the 2200 , and go to town :D

I watched this earlier today. Very informative and he discusses the GEQ-

You know. Fryette is interesting as fuck. I wish this sauerkraut eating mother fucker would shut the fuck up. Also wish we could get Rick from Wizard amps to talk about his experiences from a life of making amps..

where did synergy shit come from? I'm digging that fo sho....
Been around for several years, similar concept to what Randall did many years ago. Big difference is they’ve signed up big names to design their own preamp modules that can be licensed.

Just to nitpick it´s the same concept that Egnater did many years ago, and also licensed to Randall.

The Synergy stuff has a technology edge to the Randall and Egnator systems.

These (Randall, Egnator, Synergy) modules I think have only the V2 and V3 stages. The V1 stage is in the dock. Randall and Egnator has to use the same V1 circuit for all their modules, but of course the typical V1 circuit for Fenders is different than for Marshalls which is different from Soldano etc. So the module had to made adjustments downstream to compensate when the V1 circuit was different from what it should have been for that style preamp.

Synergy docks have three selectable V1 circuits, and the module tells the dock which one to use. So the preamp circuits now can be much more accurate.

Yeah, definitely an evolved version but definitely the same concept. And except for the important input value thing probably much the same as the later dual channel Egnater system, as compared to the single channel Randalls.

Egnater kicked around the idea of refurbishing the modular line for years and years before he went into business with whoever owns Synergy instead. What eventually would become the Syn 2 was presented back in 2007 and spent years being close to release, but it never got off the ground.

That was a great demo. When he compared only the preamps with both using the Mark GEQ and Power section, it was virtually identical, made me think the only difference may be the controls are not exactly adjusted 100% the same. Don’t think it would be possible to pick them apart.
There was a slight difference when using the IICP GEQ, which may be because not matched 100% exact rings, who knows…

Is the magic on these things in the GEQ section, post preamp?

Dude an episode of Tone Talk with Rick. Sign me up.

The magic is the GEQ plain and simple. If that module used the eq it has into a poweramp side by side with that same half stack that would be a far different result I expect.

Sounds great! I'm not into the chugging shit but he has a good ear. I agree w/ most of what he had to say. I prefered the Synergy and it is gonna be my next toy for sure.
I'm going for a Brad Gillis Speak Of The Devil tones and I think I can get close.
One of my favourite all-time Mesa tones, absolutely!
I love that record and I listened to it just the other night, great great tones and great player, I’m sure Brad is known more for this recording then most of his stuff with night ranger, LOL
