Thanks for taking the time to reply. You sound like you are describing adaptation more than evolution to me but I am not really qualified to say so so I default to your explanation. Ir what you are saying is true it kind of adds to my round peg in round hole argument with regard to tool making. A chimp has a high ability to learn basic stuff but I don't think it creates anything on it's own. Perhaps I am wrong, I'd have to think about it some more.

You are correct, however adaptation is part of evolution. Adaptation takes place generation by generation, while evolution takes thousands upon thousands of years. When a species adapts over and over again, it will eventually get to a point that the current “adaptation” displays very little similarities to the “original”; that’s when it becomes evolution. (Speciation)

It’s estimated there were about 50,000 homo Erectus on earth, compared to the billions of humans we have now. Suffice to say, the big difference between homo sapien and Erectus is that we stand up a little straighter, and we are much smarter. Even now our “intelligence” is expanding our population. People are living longer. Impotent people are having sex, infertile people are having kids. We are still an extremely fragile species, physically, however we are at this point consistently smart enough to survive

I'm having difficulty believing you're actually the WEF chairman..

You don't seem intelligent enough to be the chairman of a children's lemonade stand.

?

Water itself isn’t wet. It’s the presence of water that makes something wet. You often fail to grasp the most simple concepts. Good thing you live in Texas with all the other dumbfucks.

my next topic in the thread is the name of the weekdays in germanic languages and latin languages and how come that came to be through a so called Christian Europe. Once I get to a physical keyboard we may begin.
We don’t need to wait for me though. If anyone has info on that and wants to share it would be awesome if we discussed it here
It’s because Thor is mightier than Jebus.

But doesn't this suggest that in many tens of thousands of years there will be a new improved chimp of a sort? I just don't see the chimp as creative the same way humans are,. Also, unlike hiumans, no other animal can cry tears of emotion so that seems to also separate men from the animal kingdom. Man is of it, but created in the image of his maker which sets him apart. As you said, his intellect.

It begs the question if there needs to be an improved chimp. Look at a Great White Shark, what else does that possibly need to “improve”? Would opposable thumbs and written language make them better off?

The common belief is that humans and chimps both more or less came from a common ancestor. Chimps got bigger, stronger and faster, humans got smarter.

What are the odds that all the Satanic trolls here have a deep-seated, irrational hatred for:

 Texas
 Cliff from Fractal
 Jesus
 The Bible
Texas: Vast wasteland with the shittiest airport for a layover. Venerates the most overrated team in sports. Can’t get over themselves.

Cliff from Fractal: Buddies with fuckhead CrossFit bitch Scott Peterson.

Jesus: Jesus is awesome. His followers are bunch of dirt-eating, hypocrite goobers. Especially the ones from Texas.

The Bible: Cool mythological text full of sex and violence, sexy violence and violent sex. Descriptions of magical creatures, human sacrifices and ghost stories. Last chapter is a psychedelic trip.

Texas sucks. Common knowledge. Your governor isn’t even smart enough to buy himself some robot legs.
You are right, most of it does especially in terms of terrain but there are some ok areas here. I've found in my travels after I hit about 32 states that none of them were going to be all that great. There are by and large some good people in Texas but it's rough, hot, dry country with gnarly weather and flash flooding a lot of times and extreme temp swings. I can't imagine pioneering this place and then add comanche warriors on top of it.

And there it is.

Texas, when “just ok” is the very best you have to offer.

What do you mean "if there needs to be an improved chimp" though? Is evolution on an endless curve or does it stop and start? I don't want to waste your time any further cause I"m feeling like you'll type up more nice replies and I'll still be unswayed so take that into consideration with the time you invest in your response. I should probably hit some guitar for a few I have a corporate gig later anyways.

Central Texas is pretty nice so is the big bend the rest, well some is so-so and some is aw hell no. I can't do open flat desert or scrub lands and that is a lot of TX. Have a good one Donnie, be blessed brother.

It’s been a fun convo really. I guess by “does there need to be an improved” anything, I mean that there has to be an action, or a stimulus to drive the need to change, or adapt.

But what it did get me pondering is how we can define a “need”. Do humans need 8 billion of us to be a success? I mentioned our intelligence is able to make those “naturally” unable to conceive, able to conceive (and also those with illnesses, recover) At what point did our intelligence stop simply securing our continuation, and begin just making it more comfortable? It’s probably not the thread to go into it, but it does make me think.

While I do believe we are a product or evolution, I also do believe our minds make us truly unique
