What's your perfect Tone? Have you found it?

Depends on what I’m doing, like I was explaining to Tech in another thread, I’m all over the place with my influences and the music I write tends to reflect that. It can be anything from modern metal to something you’d expect out of Gilmour.

I need an amp that does a IIC++, Plexi, JCM800, Bassman and a Twin.

@Airwave coming into RT hot

I kid. I kid. Welcome to Rig-Talk. Looks like you will fit right in. What too you so long? Where do you normally post? What is that crazy looking mic placement thing on the Bogner cab?

Dude, you are young enough to protect and save your hearing. Don't be like most of us. Get some good plugs. I like the Hearproteck or Eargasms type or even Hearo's for cheap. You'd probably like the Loops.

Hello Boogieman "thanks" :) the device in front of the Bogner speaker is a Isolation shield that holds two microphones, I usually have a SM57 and R-121
it helps to get sound frequencies little more direct than if sound bounces off the hard wood floor, also if I'm relatively close, my playing acoustically
won't be picked up.

I post a bit on TGP, from time to time I like to "Post a Song" I wasn't sure if Rig-Talk was more metal? (I've heard some great stuff on RT) Here's one
for you it's a Hard Rock tune "Just For Fun" that I recorded with my BE-100 & Bogner cab (UK V30s) I was also using my trusty Charvel w/BKP

Ii kno you’re right . I have been doing more of that . I use gun muffs lol

The absolute best sound I've ever coaxed out of an amp was two weeks ago when @Exo-metal and I got together to compare two modded Marshalls I built. One was his Langner I worked on and the other is my personal modded Super Trem. Plugged straight in, with a Bogner 4x12 loaded with Hereitage G12H-30 55Hz. Both amps just blew us away. Perfect doesn't exist, but these were close haha

Ya, basically it's just an SG or LP style guitar with a hot bridge pickup like a Duncan distortion into a Mesa Mark series amp into a V30 loaded cab. I'm very particular of the speakers not having that 5-6k spike though... I've found some that have a very smooth top end and no other unwanted spikes.

Also, a Mark series Mesa (IV or III) has been the basis of my sound for 15+ years now, so I don't see it changing any time soon. Before that I was using old Randall's, which was a really fun rig to play through but not versatile enough.

A Gibson with a P90 bridge and A5 alnico single in the neck into a cranked Keeley Java > Fulltone TTE Preamp > jumpered Hiwatt DR103 > Mesa attenuator > cab.

On top of that I tend to add either a thick and chunky fuzz via Game Changer Plasma Pedal. If I want more amp like gain I swap in an SLO Pedal or Carvin X1. If I want DM type chainsaw grind I use a KMA Wurm 2.

It covers a shit ton of ground, while managing to sound unique. The TTE adds even more output helping the treble booster slam the Hiwatts input stage even harder. Without the attenuator it's deafening.

Cool tune and great playing

Reminds me of Whitesnake meets Queensryche :dunno:

I would say we are more metal than the TGP (based on what people tell me) but less metal than say Seven String. Lots of Marshall and Mesa fans here as you've probably found out, and we have more killer amp builders here than I can probably count on both hands.

One day…Hopefully…

I'm pretty close with the Quick Rod and Rectifiers (Dual or Single). Sometimes, I blend in the Diezel mode on my Vypyr 60 for the 'tri tone' but what I really need is a third cab for the Single Rectoverb because it is so different than the Dual and has a wonderful clean channel. But yeah, these amps together are so much better than any one of them by themselves.
I love the Single Rectifier with EL34's/KT77's. I wish they'd reissue it with an updated series buffered loop.

"Thanks man" I do like the bands you mentioned, though my main influences are probably more from Ritchie Blackmore, Schenker, Uli, Beck, Holdsworth
to Larry Carlton and Pat Pat Metheny. I was also a guitar instructor at M.I. in Hollywood CA (early '80s when between bands) Here's another "Just for Fun"

Yeah, I really dug it with EL34's. Got her back on line after giving all my love to the Dual this past year but damn is it a great amp. It doesn't have the off the rails 3D thing nor the flexibility of the Dual, but is tighter, dare I say crunchier, and more surgical with a very nice clean channel to boot. Really need to try it with KT77s, thanks for reminding me. I have the Series II, and agree on reissue.

i’ve heard quite a few modded amps in my time and of the current crop out there i really like what you are doing.
