Gary Hoey: a small clip from a recent interview.

Great guy with a great attitude towards life and music. I had a blast interviewing him. Cool moment in the ful linteview: Gary is talking about a time when he was going to share the stage with Steve Vai, one of GH's heroes. Gary said, "Man, I can't believe I get to be on stage with you....you're...

    NGD: Carvin DC727 Harlequin Prismatique

Found this in mint condition w/hardshell case from musicgoround.com. The finish shifts from purple to green depending on the light....a bitch to photograph. And, the previous owner switched out the bridge pickup.  :

Rockman gear/rack modules: anyone try this stuff?

I kinda dig the Scholz/Rockman lead tone and I've seen some of these modules pop up on ebay/cl from time to time. Anybody use these things? Are there any that are sleepers/keepers? Others that are a waste of time? I just became a member of the Rockman forum but I figure I'd ask here first...

    Peavey Rockmaster channel switching question

Can a unit like the G Major or Intellifex change the channels of the Peavey Rockmaster if wired in properly? I don't really know but am thinking about putting together a small, portable, and cheap rack......the RM is one of the cheapest out there, hence the question. Thanks in advance for your...

Winter NAMM 09: your thoughts and experiences?

Mods, I'm doing a little research to see what this year's Winter NAMM 09 retailer, manufacturer, and visitor attendees have to say about the show. I will also post this in each of the MFG and Retailer boards as well with the hopeful intent of them responding in this thread. I'm only cross...

    NGD: Ibanez RG7620

My first foray into the seven string realm. The guy I bought it from had some home brew tuning with regular .10s and an added high .10 on the E. Needless to say, I'll be spending the better part of the day doing a setup. Now do I tune the lowest string to B or A? Hmmmm.....

Ibanez players: opinions on Apex 2

I'm thinking of grabbing one of these. The options are right up my alley...upgraded pickups, upgraded bridge, woods, and control layout. However, the Indonesian build has me a little worried. Anyone have any experiences with this instrument. Here's what I'm talking about...

    So my Vai interview.....

...went very well. I found out Monday that we'd be doing the interview at Steve's home in LA. That kinda threw me off since I figured we'd end up in some office building somewhere...We bypassed the main house and went into Steve's home studio/man cave....the "Harmony Hut". As my crew was...

NGD part II, Les Paul VM

I used to have a LP Deluxe a few years back. I loved the all mahogany body sound but wanted a little more juice from the pickups. I've never been a fan of maple tops and, I've never been a big fan of binding on guitars. I know it's the quintesential (sp) LP look, but I've never been a big fan...

Dave Murray/Paul Kossoff tribute Strat complete. NGD part 1

Well, I got the bug to build a guitar with a nod to one of my favorite guitarists, Dave Murray. So, I dug around and found that Fender made this guitar, the Straight Six Stratocaster. The body and neck have thin lacquer, not poly. I got that from the Music Zoo...great service, btw. I then...

Ibanez to reissue the RG565? Anyone try one of these?

I've always dug the looks of the RG565. Anyone try one? It looks as if Ibanez may reissue these at this Summer NAMM Show. Not sure though.

    "Clean" combo amp with pedals?

I've known a few guys who ran the Groove Tubes Solo-45 combo with a pedal board. I guess Aspen designed that particular amp with the purpose of running pedals up front. Ironically, and IIRC, Scott Peterson from TGP used to use that rig with alot of success.

Great fret work/luthier: Jim Crawford-N. County San Diego

After searching around for a local luthier to do some fretwork/leveling on my MIJ Strat, several recommendations led me to contact Brian at Super Sound Music and get in touch with Jim Crawford. Jim contacted me and we arranged for the work/pickup. The turnaround was very quick and the price was...
