My point is I trust my priest in these matters more than you because he understands the deeper meanings and traditions. It's not a career path like science, it's service out of love to your fellow orthodox christians and to others. It's the only institution founded upon love. Isn't that nice?If you need more than a high level "english translation" then fuck, learn Hebrew I guess LOL
Most people don't need to know this level, you might just want to become a scholar yourself.

NoWould you be acting "iffy" if you wore sunglasses upon reaching their island considering their culture adamantly considers covering ones eyes an action punishable by death?
The orthodox church is pre-denominational. It doesn't have "canned answers" for you. Nothing is being sold there. He doesn’t understand anymore than anyone else.
He’s been given dogmatic answers by his superiors to dole out to the people who put money in their coffers.
humor me.Then you need to think more about that.
Of course it is. The Orthodox Church is no different than its Catholic sister. The uniforms and paintings and relics are a bit more morose, but that’s it.The orthodox church is pre-denominational. It doesn't have "canned answers" for you. Nothing is being sold there.
Lol, you aren't very aware of orthodoxy, like most westerners. No fault of yours tbh.Of course it is. The Orthodox Church is no different than its Catholic sister. The uniforms and paintings and relics are a bit more morose, but that’s it.
What do you mean if not my opinion? Of course all kinds of horrible things have been justified throughout history by various societies and cultures. This isn't a good argument for why the "iffy" crap in the bible, especially as directed or condoned by god, is excusable.Who has the right answer? ( Don't tell me your opinion, we're talking about culture and societal rules here )
More than you know pal. Just because you want to put a big bow on it and frame it in a different light because it happens to be your faith doesn’t make it special. Unlike the guy who won’t answer, I went to a well known Jesuit university and have an advanced degree on this subject.Lol, you aren't very aware of orthodoxy, like most westerners. So what's your excuse?I went to a well known Jesuit university and have an advanced degree on this subject.
I do have an answer, I just told you: My opinion is that the "iffy" stuff in the bible is not morally justifiable, especially when directed or condoned by god. To me it diminishes the book's credibility, if it had any to start with.So you don't have an answer. You need to think more of that.
Yes, I make the determination. And to condense a pretty complicated question — yours.Who determines what is "iffy"? You? Your culture allows death penalty. My culture doesn't. Who is correct?
I should be asking you.So what's your excuse?
You should be, but you're not I guess. An orthodox seminary would've worked out better for you. Just saying.I should be asking you.
The problem with trying to make someone realize that evolution is a real, and still occurring thing, is that their often deep seated biases also go against any evidence of recent evolution.Admittedly, the evolution theory is fantastical if not outright absurd... but that doesn't meant the bible is true ?
Very debatable. ...As if the various states and governments have done such a great job and like totally not killed, enslaved or imprisoned millions and not to mention made a mess of the earth.Of people who all play by their own individual rules. I would argue that is far worse than anything in history.
Yeah, people made him up.God was not created. At least not in the sense we understand.
