I dislike DiMarzio pickups too normally, but Mark using one makes me question my bias.

my dislike for floyds has nothing to do with the tone, but everything to do with the appearance, feel, and adjustment of that accursed contraption. i love the look of a strat with a vintage trem on it. floyds look like an 80's novelty item to me. most if not all of my friends here on the forum swear by them. cool! just count me out!

i have no interest in persuading anyone to agree with me on these points about floyd and dimarzio nor would i entertain the notion that i might sway someone away from these things just because i don't like them. there are enough players i've met and respect that totally get what i'm saying to know i'm not some isolated alien in this concept.

Pat, I totally agree and we share the same point of view for sure. I still although like some Dimarzio, he HS-3/2 and the original Virtual Vintage 54 Alnico 5 which they don't make anymore for some reason.

If you are asking me, I'm happy with mine. More from the AC/DC camp as far as Marshall tones. More of a stock voice with a few tweaks I guess.



For me the early VH thing has too much screechy "ee" in the highs and the lows are too spongy/ loose. Just my opinion, no biggie. Like I said in my previous post, you have it nailed (tone and playing) I'm just not a fan of that tone.

mark is the undisputed king of vh tone in the amp world, imo. and the fact that he can play and record vh riffs perfectly provides the ideal marketing tool for his mods. he R I P S.

but if i had to point to a bluesy ac/dc srv tone cat doing mods it'd be this guy-who is to SRV tone and playing as mark is to VH
and this new ACDC type clip is killer too
