Speaker wattage doesn't make the amplifier louder, it is the capacity of the speaker itself.

Lower wattage speakers paired with an appropriate amplifier will actually sound fuller/more open.

Super high wattage speakers with a lower wattage amplifier pushing through them has a slightly distant sound, and requires a bit more volume to get the speakers "moving".

This is just IME.

Had a buddy who bought a 250w 4x12 and could not understand how my 2x12 with 75w speakers sounded so much louder.

Speaker efficiency has a big part of it as well.

Again, this is just my experiences.
 
I have a 1x12 a buddy built me that is the exact same shade of blue, though it is painted and not tolex. Really cool little cabinet there man.

I just imagine someone showing up with a big ol amp head and needing something powerful....

Out comes this little guy - ready to rock!!!
 
Hell with that size some Owens Corning R30 is justified.
