After reading what everyone said, going to the amp show tomorrow has kind of lost some of its luster. I have never been to any event like this and was so excited :(

If you can, sneak in without paying the $20. Go straight into the Carol Ann room, THOSE are the amps you need to play. It was 100 degrees in there so i couldn't hang out in there long.

OR the Bludo room with every overdrive pedal you have and some kind of pointy floyd guitar asking where the gain knob is at

I am extremely amp deprived, I never get to play anything but the usual fenders, marshall, and mesa(which I just dont get along with) :(. I wish I could play some of the awesome amps I hear about on this forum like the Splawn, CAE, Friedman, Fuchs, Reeves, Fryette etc. I am very excited to see the Carol Ann amps as I have never heard one in person before.

Yeah but make sure is some super loud fluorescent color so you can get into an argument on how the tint of paint affects tone.

After reading this, Im glad that I couldn't go and the only reason why Id want to go at this point is to say hello to everyone.

Im sorry to say that after a review like this that the show might not have a bright future but I hope that maybe they read this and revamp there ideas a bit.

On another note, regarding the vendor cost, Im pretty sure that in order to run a show like that, the powers that be would have to rent out the hotel or a string or wing of many rooms for 2 days and that has got to be expensive. Just think if you were on vacation and rented a room at that Hotel and you heard amps blaring on 10 all day long LMFAO. Im sure that in order to make the amp show fly, they have to rent the place somehow.

I think that maybe next year that they should do one day instead of two, although I know that would pose some problems for vendors comming in from out of town. I mean realistically, why would you want to lug all your crap down for one day but as with any problem, Im sure that there is a solution.

I think it can be and has been great in the past, and I hope that it doesn't go by the wayside but I also agree that they need to maybe look into a better way of doing things. I know for a fact that Money will always be tight for an up and comming builder and add in travel and room expenses... I don't know of many that can swing that.

Just ask dave where the secrete door is. :D

I went to it today, it was an okay show, but as I said, I never went to one before so I have nothing to compare it to. I liked the eventide room and though it was simple yet effective setup to show off the gear they had and thought the Fractal room was also simple yet effective. The carol Ann was nice also! Those were the 3 important rooms for me and they delivered the goods. The rest were lacking in my opinion, however I wasn't familiar with a lot of the others so I was kind of out of my element.

I would love to go to Tonemerchants, but I live in North NJ so its not really something I can do :(

I would love to go back tomorrow and play the Carol Ann through one of my 4x12's. ;) I dont think the 1x12 did it justice...although it sounded good. My only concern is that it was a little dark. I had the presence and treble at 3 o'clock. I wonder if he should put a simple switch on the front/back to add in some treble if wanted/needed?
Dave, Is this the new 3 channel called the Triptick?

Hmmmm.....a $2,200 practice amp.

I rip it up on my $89 Blackheart 5 watt head (NOS Jan Phillips) into a 2x12 with a couple pedals. I feel so silly. :D

LOL!

Lunch, on me, somewhere in the middle cuz I'm in the East Valley, how about Lolo's?

Yea the guy was telling us about Spitz. He said he built him an amp that was close to the triptik but not as much gain. Im really thinking about buying one. I thought it was a real killer. As Dave said it would of been cool to try it with a 4x12.

How much gain was on tap? You're causing a twinge I cannot afford. Have to pony up for the CCV soon.

I thought it had a lot of gain. Was easy to play and dead quiet. Had tone for days. Roll off the guitars volume and it cleaned up nicely. Tube effects loop to boot. Alan said an 8 week build time. I really liked the amp.
Sounds really nice. Allans amps sound very tonefull. Joe B wouldn't be using them if they were not. They never seemed to have as much gain as I would like but this one sounds great. But Dave, it's 500 over the most you would ever spend on an amp.

I'm glad i didn't hear the Triptick because i don't have a spare 3k on me. I'm also glad i got to hear the Axe-Fx 2.........because i know now i don't want one.
