Big amps in big rooms

I haven’t played this Plexi50 through a 4x12 without an attenuator yet, so Saturday night I tossed together a pedalboard of random toys and then yesterday I spent almost 4 hours playing between 105dB and 108dB.

The ripples across the camera at the start of the vid show how loud it was in there and the camera was nearly 50’ from the amp.

The Lovepedal Purple Plexi sounds so fucking great I had a hard time spending time on the other pedals-





And this is from the point I was trying to hear the gripes about the Fryette PS-100’s attenuation; it definitely changes the sound of the amp when it’s attenuating but I can get like 98.8833333333% of the way back with the Depth/Resonance controls. But in doing so I just realized how much I fucking love the sound of a Plexi



I’m keeping the rig here this week, after lunch I’m going to crank the shit out of that Electra Dyne as long as the tenants on the 2nd floor are gone.

Tones sound great

I love the powerstation
I think it's the best sounding attenuator on the market, and has just the right feature set to dial it in for any amp

I also think every guitar player needs the experience of playing a cranked up plexi in the room at some point - when you listen to a lot of "modern" especially younger players, it's like they don't understand what playing a real amp at real volume on a real stage is like, and it comes through in their playing.

One thing I didn’t anticipate was how fucking loud that was going to be through a 300-watt 4x12. The 2x12 I got with it is 60watts, so when I initially dimed the amp in that same room, it wasn’t even competing with the 4x12.

The amp was on 2.5 when I first turned it on and I almost re-enacted the Mcfly/guitar amp scene in Back To The Future. That is so not a gigging amp without the Power Station

I’m about to get my 65+ co-workers to come down and feel what it’s like to play an A chord through a cranked tube amp!

Funnily, I had to cut a doorway in that room to the adjacent suite when we were showing it off and it totally created that backroom creepy thing-
