EQ is the most important guitar effect/tool nobody seems to talk about, no question.
Which EQ you get depends on your amp, but I've always had great luck with a Boss GE-7 after the guitar and a Rane parametric rack EQ in the loop. If you can't do the rack stuff, an MXR 10 band is tough to beat.
