a metal amp that isn't flat?

Get another Deliverance and a Fryette Power Station. Then you'll have a D60 with a loop and an attenuator. Or send the D60 to Fryette for the loop mod, but that doesn't help with the volume issue. The Power Station would solve all of your problems, it seems.
Just to reiterate...

I would not go Uber...way too fat for what you're looking for. VHT UL/CL/CLX sounds like the right choice

I'll put in another vote for the Sig:X. That is a very versatile amp. I had one after trading a Deliverance 120. I played metal, rock, even backed up a singer/songwriter friend of mine with that amp.

Don't think I ever said I didn't want fat. The best sound I got with the VHT was in stereo with an old Sunn Model T that fattened it up. Anyway, I played an Uberschall a long time ago at that fancy guitar store in Chicago. I remember liking it, I don't remember what it sounded like. I do remember I preferred it over the Herbert because the Herbert was too compressed sounding.

fuchs viper/mantis

it has four 6550s so its super loud and very aggressive. palm mutes jump out and rattle your chest.

To me, it sounds like either a Mesa Mark series or a Fryette Pitbull of some kind would work really well for you.

Funny, the 5150 212 combo is still my reigning favorite amp of all time. I actually just sold my Mark V and bought another 5150 212 combo...its my third one haha.

If you didn't like the Recto, you'll hate the Uber. Very loose and grainy sounding...the exact opposite of the Deliverance you had. You'll never get any "chime" out of it either (as you mentioned in your 1st post).

I much prefer a Rectifier over a Uber ...for that type of sound. Both are good amps.... But they are very different than a Deliverance.
Deliverance and Power Station seems most like what you are looking for. .... Who knows ?

Thanks guys. I think that the 5150 combo with a few tweaks and a different set of pups will be fine for my metal needs, if not I'll swap it for a 5153. I will be on the lookout for a Sig:X or a Pitbull or a Deliverance and a Power Station down the road when I get back from Iceland and have a little more money to play with.

Couple things about the 5150 combo. As someone else said...it does, in fact, like Ruby's. Thats all I ever buy for these amps anymore.

If you are running it with the stock speakers, you are DEFINITELY going to hate it. The Sheffields it comes with are total shit. My recommendation would get something that tames the high end fizz...like Eminence Legend V12s (which is what I use). There are some other options, too. V30s work great with it for recording, but I hate them in the room...too much midrange spikiness with the 5150. K100s are awesome if you intend to keep it as a combo. Balances the overall tone, kills some fizz, and makes it sound WAY bigger than it actually is (pretty awesome, considering how shallow the cab is...11"!!). Some people like Greenbacks a lot with 5150s, and I imagine they would tame the fizz and beef the tone up a bit, but I have never used Greenbacks, so I don't know from personal experience.

had a feeling it was a carvin from the photo. huh. might have to look into one of those.

They're incredible guitars. They play and sound so nice. The finishes are exceptional. My SCB6 arrived in July, and I liked it so much that I sold all my other guitars, grabbed a used Carvin bass, and then ordered my DC600 in August haha.

I dig my 6505+. I'm using with a Legacy 212 cab.A M108 in the loop helps dial it in.

Looper pedal clip.

Raf is the 5150 guru. Listen to this man!

I agree with the Ruby's in the power section. It's also best to use Chinese tubes in the preamp as well because the cathode follower slots cause Russian 12AX7's to die and early death. I'm running triple mica '90s Chinese high gain in mine.

Well, I played an Uber and I liked the tone, particularly on the lower gain channel. Not sure why people said they sounded grainy, didn't think so at all. super, super, super loose though. Like, palm muting was basically pointless.
