Duvall's a great fit...and he's not on smack...so he's got that going for him

I liked Duvall a lot better once I stopped comparing him to Layne.

I prefer Layne but since we can't have Layne, Duvall needs to be judged on his work. I think he does a fine job.

I agree.

Also, I've been listening to Duvall since Jerry was bringing him along on his solo tours. I really think he's improved over the years...seeing the show from "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" tour really solidified that for me.

Duvall sounds good, similar tone to Layne. But seriously folks....he doesn't compare to the original. End of argument. But I'm glad Jerry is still at it, I like their new stuff. Layne Staley had one of the most unique voices EVER in Rock. Period.

Ya, this singer vs that singer is a waste of time. Props to them for actually playing instead of lip syncing like most of the crap at NFL games.

I actually like Duvall and Layne both for different reasons and like what each brought to the table for AIC. I don't see why it has to be an either or type of thing.

Duvall is like Diet Coke - tastes like shit and causes cancer. He just ain't the real deal.

I think Duvall does a great job. They are making money and put on a great show. With that said he's singing Lane's songs that never would have been written if Layne wasn't such a troubled heroin induced soul. I know Cantrell was the main writer but he wrote with Layne co writing. These songs were formed by the two of them together for the most part. It is cool they are carrying on and doing very well. Layne sang with a passion Duvall can't match because Duval isn't messed up the way Layne was but he is still a damn good singer. Alot of the lyrics revolve around Laynes suffering

I've seen them live a couple of times over the last couple of years and they have been fantastic. Always a fan of them!

I agree. I just wish Jerry would let him do more. Jerry sings too much and he's not as good as Duvall.

New singer is better than the old singer. :)

Fuck that! AIC blows without Layne. Jerry has become a freakin elevator rock music songwriter these days too...
Really??

Stone?? Hollow?? A Looking In View?? Crushing tunes in my opinion...I'd like to be on that elevator all day if I could.

Sorta like the new AIC stuff but prefer Cantrell's solo stuff to be honest.

I dig it, they sound great and I like how they have carried on. I wouldn't let a dead singer stop me either.

What's so bad with Duvall? I think he's doing a killer job.

He is better than Layne ever was.
Great strong voice. Can sing anything Layne sang, and for gods sake he doesn't fucking Yarl.
A troll-worthy comment, but there it is.

As annoying as it may be to some, it seems yarling is here to stay. I didn't mind it with Ronnie James Dio or Layne Staley, but Scott Stapp was absolutely brutal with it! Layne had an incredible singing voice, as unique as the greatest singers in rock.

I've heard a few AIC songs with the current signer... They now sound like an AIC tribute band.

I have an idea as to why the show was not televised, but it may be too cerebral to post... I'll stay quiet, like a good little subject should. :salute:

What he said!!

I don't think AIC will ever be the same. Thank God they are still jamming though and that singer isn't half bad. He does a hell of a lot better than I could ever do haha.

There's a lot of good stuff on the two new records IMO. And while no one can replace Layne, Duvall does a great job IMO.

I didn't really listen to any AIC after Dirt, just didn't care for the tones they were getting and the songs weren't grabbing me. After listening to Love Hate Love recently there's no way Duvall can even come close to what Layne could do dynamically and soulfully. That being said I wish them all the best as Layne through his selfish choices and weakness left us and tore them apart. I'm not along for the ride but if people are digging it it's got to better than Theory of a Deadman (1st one that sprang to mind) and other modern rock radio shit. Jerry's tones lately have been killer. I think their usual approach to duet a lot doesn't work like it did with Layne. Layne's tone was so different from Jerry's they mixed well, you didn't lose Layne in it. Duvall is not nearly as discernible so it becomes more of just a singular voice with no real character.

did they say the word "shit" in the song? What about the kids?
