Personally I prefer straight 4x12 cabs because I like what they do to the low end. They sound bigger to me.
However, behind a mic, some guys (notably Nolly) prefer putting a mic on the top side of a slant 4x12's because the angled baffle means you don't have a parallel wall right reflecting directly back at the speaker.
