....I'm having a hard time trying to find somewhere in the US that I can pre-order the "Deluxe Artbook" package from (artbook, 3 CDs, 2 DVDs, 1 Blu-Ray) or at least the CDs & Blu-Ray. I usually order Dev's stuff through CMDistro.com, but all they have is a CD/DVD digipack, no Blu-ray. The only other places are overseas where the exchange rate to USD and/or the shipping costs are very steep (for my cheap ass anyway).

No problem Scott! I pre ordered it and paid a little more because I can't wait for the Blu Ray. I just went through his website.Really looking forward to this as the HD shot show looks and sounds amazing. A show like this is more than just a live concert. It is an experience.

My cheap ass broke down and I just got done pre-ordering.

For anyone wanting to pre-order the deluxe boxset, it is now sold out on his site, but I found it on napalmrecords.com for 47.99 + 12.49 shipping (in Euros), which in USD comes out to $64.97, which is almost $20 less than it was ordering from his site (their shipping alone was close to $30, where it was only $13.42 on napalmrecords). Shipping rates may vary though depending on where you live.

I'm glad now I looked around instead of ordering yesterday...........did I mention I was a cheap ass? :)

As far as I know, the rig on this demo is a Kemper Profiling Amp running a profile of his Dual Rec, in a wet/dry setup with the Axe-FX. The Axe-FX is used for the wet side amp sounds (again, the Dual Rec models) and all of the effects. He was using this same setup with a real Dual Rec in place of the Kemper, and an Roland GP-100 or TC Elec G-Force adding effects in tandem with the Axe-FX. He has since gotten rid of the Roland and G-Force, opting to use the Axe-FX for all the effects.

This rig, along with some backing tracks makes his live sound HUGE. He does shows that are more stripped down production wize, with little to no backing tracks, but they still sound as big as can be.

I can't wait to hear "Bastard" all mixed and pretty sounding. This is going to be a KILLER DVD!

I first fell in love with Dev's voice in the mid-90's in my Vai phase when I got Sex And Religion. My dad couldn't fuckin' STAND him on that CD! Hahahah "Jesus Christ that guy is just fucking yelling his face off....Goddamnit Andy, turn that shit off! It's too much!" :D

His music and approach to life has helped me tremendously. I was a bit of a fuck up for a while and finding out how he got himself 'normal' gave me a road map on getting my own shit together. I share a lot of common views with him, regarding collective consciousness and how we really don't 'write' music, it's already there, we're just grabbing it from the pool and bringing it into a audible reality.

I also love the fact that he makes no bones or excuses about his music. He doesn't love his songs, they're simply a vehicle for him to feel normal. Complete self-exploration/discovery by opening the tracks and hitting Record. "Byproducts" are what he refers to them as.

The story I've heard is that his guitars are ghost-built by a guy here in Vancouver, but I'm not sure if that's really true or just gossip..

Nah. Framus has released videos of the guitars being made, so unless they're sending him a version and he has someone building EXACT copies of it, that's incorrect. Dev's also truthful almost to a fault and is big on absolute truths as a way of life, the dude doesn't eat meat because the negative energy transfer....all those things are microcosms for bigger aspects of life. IE- If he starts lying about gear, he'll have issues in another spot of his life. Blah blah...

DT is awesome.

The introductory first 30 seconds of SYL's download set is hilarious.

I am a big fan of Framus guitars, especially the newer stuff. Dev's guitars are beautiful! I am a semi-hollow guy, so I dig their stuff. I even play really heavy stuff on semi-hollow guitars, and I love it. Unless I run into a nice old 335/339 for a good price, my next semi-hollow will be a Framus.

Framus is very environmentally friendly, which is great. Their factory is powered by a combination of wind turbines and solar panels, and their heating facility is geothermal. Fully carbon neutral. All their tonewoods are from "sustainable forest management" areas. They've got a unique lacquering process too, which is environmentally friendly and looks great. They use a water based lacquer that responds to UV light, which drys it in like 15 seconds. It's a super thin spray, keeping the guitars nice and resonant. You can see the process in the video about Dev's guitar below, and read about it on their site here. There are more videos on YT of Devin's Framus guitars. They're worth a watch, very interesting stuff.

Reading this back, I sound like a total hippy   I'm not super into this stuff, I just think it's cool that Framus/Warwick are developing new guitar technologies and making an effort to clean up the guitar manufacturing world. There is more about their sustainable and safe practices at the link above. I

've played 2 of the more expensive Framus guitars, and can confirm they are really resonate thanks to the thin lacquer. I noticed right away, long before I learned about their UV light process n' such. Combine the thin lacquer with good woods and craftsmanship, and you'll find a very nice guitar. The semi-hollow models are especially vibrant, as to be expected. The Mayfield I played was very loud acoustically, and really sang. It vibrates against your body while sitting down so much that it startled me at first. That's always my test for a great guitar, if I can sit down with it and feel the guitar resonating. The Panthera I played wasn't as strong (not a semi-hollow), but felt great too. These were not Custom Shop/Masterbuilt guitars either! They were both their product models, the Pro Series. They have a new, cheaper option coming out soon. I doubt they will have the water based lacquer though. We'll have to wait and see.

TL;DR - Framus is awesome. Their lacquer and finishes are second to none, hippy bullshit that I find cool, Devin Townsend is a genius, watch the video, go buy a Framus
