Not surprising. That guy is a dick.

He blamed the holidays and a shop move on the delay. I had Christmas Day off so I can't sympathize. Nothing can justify nine weeks so far and who knows how many more. Since waiting I've tweaked my Marshall Plexi build even more and it rips. I am almost at the point to putting the other Marshall up for sale when I finally get it. Been thinking about building a SLO clone.

I sent an expensive amp to him for a simple mod and he fucked up the circuit. When I told him about it he wanted more money to fix his shitty work. I sent it to the manufacturer and had his bullshit ripped out and the amp restored. Learned my lesson on that one. I was stupid, didn't do my homework, and was listening to the retards on this forum for advice...lol oh, and he used the shop move excuse on me as well and that was a year ago or more.. how many shop moves can he do?

Thanks! Now I'm really worried.

So is there any chance of either of you guys outing this dipshit?

So who is this dick?

Would be good for others to know so said dick can be avoided.

I will not give that up. I didn't start this to bash him. He has made a lot of people happy. Plus he still has my amp and money.

So how about after you get your amp back? Will you out him then?

I don't care how many people this guy has made happy. The fact of the matter is, he has pulled the same shit he's pulling on you, on others.

If bad experiences like this go unspoken of, other people will fall prey to his shit and that's not cool.

It's not hard to figure out who this is. He's a well-known modder in NY that isn't Trace at Voodoo.

I really dislike made-up excuses. I took a guitar to a guy here a few months ago. It took a few weeks longer than expected. He answered and returned calls. And he didn't make any excuses. Our conversations were short and to the point, and he said it wasn't ready yet because he hadn't started working on it yet. (Makes sense). It wasn't a big deal, and I appreciated that he wasn't making stuff up about a sick aunt's roommate's cousin.

It's pretty obvious who this guy is. Yes, he's a dick. Screwed one of my buddies a couple years ago. And his mods aren't much to talk about compared to other modders out there.

Just email that asshole to tell him I wasn't happy with how long it was taking and he cursed me out and then gave me a laundry list of excuses. I'm a sales rep for a major beer company(Budweiser) and if I ever treated a customer like that I would be canned within an hour. I guess if you own your own business you can treat customers as badly as you want. I will never send another amp to him. Super pissed that I did.

If he hasn't started it yet, he should just refund you and ship it back. You'd probably be out shipping, but I don't know that I'd want this guy poking around my amp, so consider it a dodged bullet.

I know it's too late but never pay in advance for this kind of work, deposit maybe but never in full. If he/they require it, no matter how big a name or famous, find somebody else. I do some mods for friends and such when they know what they want or have an amp acting up but I'm up front about my schedule - I have a full time day job and two little kids at home so it might take a few weeks to get to it. One even totally understood and said 'how about next Saturday I take the kids to chuckie cheese for a few hours and leave you my amp?" Worked out great, they got back just as I was firing it up to test it out. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I hope it works out for you.

This was the situation my buddy ran into. An amp was shipped to said modder from the seller of the amp, my friend was the buyer who was wanting it modded. The mod was already paid for. He said the amp arrived with damage and it would cost a lot extra for repairs. My buddy told him to leave it alone and just ship it back so the seller could to take care of the claim and make things right. The douchebag ships it back 2 weeks later and refunded the mod price, MINUS $200, for shipping and his "lost time" without even telling him. What a dick! :gethim:

How does this guy still get customers? If I personally had a stake in this, I'd out him so that Google could catch this stuff. But I dont, so I feel a little weird doing that, so I won't.

I will out him when I get my amp back. I feel like he is going to screw with my amp now anyway. I bet it comes back to me sounding like a Kazoo.

Jeff Hilligan did some pretty advanced mods for me and it only took him one week. This guy acts like I'm being a little baby about ten weeks.

I wonder if the "modder's" acronym has the 6th , 10th & 1st letters of the alphabet as his business? ; )
