It’s grown on me alot .i have zero problems with this song . It sounds a John bush era song with Joey . I like itThe tune is decent...But I do not do too well with Joey. Anyone who has a side gig covering Steve Perry can definitely sing. That said, His phrasing and and general vocal style just doesn't really work for men in the context of metal, never really has. It bothered me a bid as a kid on early Anthrax records as well, but the riffs and songwriting were strong enough to overcome it.
I used to be a HUGE anthrax fan back In the day and then I went to a SOD gig and saw Scott be a total prick to a teenage kid. Totally soured me. This was back in the mid 80s.
Then I read some of the stuff that Billy said about Scott and it kinda backed up what I’ve seen at a few Anthrax shows.
I will say that I’ve had the pleasure of bumping into Frankie a few times. He’s always been super down to earth and cool with me. He used to work at his uncles Deli back in the day and I would stop by there and he’d be working behind the counter. Got him to sign a bass of mine that I still have. Cool dude.
Ludicrous .neither of those 3 bands can write as good as anthrax . Testamevt tried to be Metallica 2.o . I think they are better now than in the day . Their productions sucked until like late 90s . Overkill cool but dudes voice is ridiculous . ( I toured with them , loved them ) .I personally think Ian is really really overrated
for his tone, his playing, and especially his writing - apparently the drummer writes most of the riffs, and you can tell
Even the "classic" albums of anthrax have some pretty obvious filler riffs and inconsistent songwriting, which is why they were never on the level of the other three bands in the big four
TBH I think Testament or Exodus or Overkill or some other band deserves the fourth spot in "the big four" more than anthrax does
And I'm saying this with love mostly, as I think those early anthrax albums have a couple of bangers

And exodus musyc rules but holy shit their singers blow . Really hurt them
I like all 3 bands but anthrax shits on all 3
Holy shit from a anthrax with one of tkem
You’re trolling me again

Apparently he's using the same classic era gear he used on the early albums
The last 2 anthrax albums are super fucking good .anthrax hasn't had a good album since i was 5 years old dude
And even the good albums had a bunch of shitty filler tracks with bangers like "caught in a mosh" and "madhouse" sprinkled in
Their songwriting consistency is absolute shit compared to the first three testament albums, and the lyrics are full on retarded - not to mention the guitar solos, which are literally on the level of kindergarten diarrhea compared to alex skolnicks on the first few albums
Exodus has 10 badass memorable riffs for every 1 anthrax has written, and overkill never sold out and started writing shitty music, which by default makes them a better choice

Honestly you’re going to kill me for sayin this but I’ve never found his lead kicks hard in metal or jazz ( Skolnick ) . Hrs great . But he just overatted af . He’s better than spitz ya but but I coujd play those silos n high school school . Idk I grew up on learning all the Steve Vai silos as a teen . So I saw shit from a duffebt perspective . If it wasnt hard af in highschool I didn’t play it . I was a snob . Honesty Megadeth the only one of these bands with like stellar other wordly solos
But I see the same shit in Alex . It’s Judy telling scales combine a sweep hereI didn't say they were the hardest thing in the world, the intro to "Trial by fire" was the first sweep I ever tried to learn in high school
So no, it's not a different perspective
I'm just saying his solos are literally lightyears ahead of Dan Spitz retarded weedly noises
But I see the same shit in Alex . It’s Judy telling scales combine a sweep here
I do return to serenity because he crisply played with real feel. He was like a robot with no feel . I’m just drying this because it’s driven me nuts for years . Even at namm now he sounded like shit . I was kinda shocked
Delirious Nomad is a killer album beginning to end and also a classic AS album.Anthrax has always been a band with a cooler band name and logo than music. That song was terrible. I want to like it because anthrax (appart from scott who i'm not a fan of at all, especially after reading his book) are all super likable guys, killer musicians, and in great shape for their age because i don't think they partied / got hooked on drugs for a period like the exodus guys or some of their peers. Joey (and john bush for that matter) all sound every bit as good as they did back in the day. But they just can't write those big, memoriable songs like they could on spreading the disease and among the living. i thought sound of white noise was one of the best american metal albums of that era, but they never could really caputre lightning with john bush. A lot of the old schoolers hated the transition between P.O.T and sound of white noise, but it worked. stomp has a song or two, but after that, they deflated fast and stayed in a shitty state until they got joey back, and it certainly seems like joey and the rest of the guys aren't exactly pals. Joey belongs in anthrax, and John belongs in Armored Saint (who i have a soft spot for). Its weird too because with armored saint, their first record was classic, then some (imo) duds that are considered classic by die hards, then they came back in 89 or 90 with Symbol of Salvation which is great start to finish.
not to split hairs, but the eq curve on those guitars kinda ruins the mix, sounds like scooped mids with a boost in the high mids it clashes with the frequencies of joeys vocals.
The first three Testament albums are absolutely unfuckwithable.anthrax hasn't had a good album since i was 5 years old dude

Whining about the production of vintage classic albums is absolutely narrow minded and ridiculous.Definitely - and unfortunately for anthrax, they've always had shaky album tracks and lyrics mixed in with their obvious classics
Also "Wahhh production bad" lol grow a dick it's metal tech Jesus Christ

They’re a captured moment of an amazing era in metal, and rest assured nobody was bitching about the production when they were released. Those productions were 100% analog, pure, performed, and not copied and pasted digitally perfected BS.
NEEDZ MOAR KOMPRESSIONSOH NOOOOO THIS ALBUM WAS PERFORMED BY HUMANS AND THE DRUMS AREN'T THE SAME FUCKING SAMPLES I HEAR ON EVERY FIVE FINGER FRUIT PUNCH, PERIPHERY AND TAMMY HANSEN RECORD NOOOOO I CAN'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY
