Any Solid State Love?

I've always liked the Peavey Transtube line. I've had an XXL head for over 10 years.

Used to have a Valvestate VS100 which was also quite good.

Heavy hitters of the solid state world are:

Peavey Supreme 160 - my first amp, don't remember it too well. The successors are some of the better regarded SS heads (Supreme XL, XXL). It's like the head version of the Peavey Bandit which is pretty popular. Really heavy and powerful.
Marshall Valvestate 8100 - kind of thin and scratchy for my tastes these days, but made it onto several Death and Prong records. Cool for old thrash tone. The later version (VS100) was used on the first two Static X albums.
Randall RG100ES - much fuller tone than the Marshall and better built too. Early Pantera tone, Dokken and more. Best overall SS amp in my opinion. Comes in lots of form factors (1x12 combo, 80 and 100 watt heads, rack head, preamp).

There are some exotic SS and hybrid amps out there like the ISP Theta and Vanous Evolution but I haven't had the pleasure of playing either.

Some semi-popular amps for clean and crunch are the Gallien Kreuger 250ML (Iron Maiden circa Somewhere in Time/Seventh Son) and Roland JC-120 (Metallica's clean tone for ages).

I have a bunch

Vh140c
Crate gx130c
Crate xlp/spa200 rack
Randall rg100es
Randall Century 200II
Peavey supreme 160

Would you by any chance sell your Randall Century 200II?

I like solid-state pedals. Solid-State amps are great for compressed jazz tones. I suppose solid-state would be perfect for "modern metal", as those tones are quite compressed to begin with. For country, blues and rock, it's tubes amps all the way.

Gigged with an Ibanez tone blaster head and cab for years and loved it. Currently using a duncan powerstage solid state pedal to power my helix through a mesa 4x12 and it's an amazing piece of gear.

The Ampeg VH140C is an awesome amp. I wish I never sold mine.

Have you managed to capture that specific tone this amp has just like you hear it when you play?

thunderkiss 65 is closer in terms of how the amp actually sounds to me compared to PanterA, you really gotta boost them hard to get the gain sizzling. its honestly been years since i really played the thing, maybe ill bust it out and make some clips

hehe i get it.... you need some technique on how to mic a cab with the proper speakers.

Yeah it's a shame that this amp is sitting in the closet of yours

That'd be great

I remember when the Vanous first came out, I was really interested, I think I remember really liking it, I'm not sure if there were any good clips of it on Youtube. I had completely forgotten about it until you posted the pic. I'm off to YT to try to find some clips.
