And there you go. This applies to everyone and all amps. For example, I've yet to play a Friedman that did anything for me, I mean everytime I plug into one I go, am I missing something here 'cause I don't get it. But that doesn't mean they aren't great amps, plenty of players dig them, we know Dave is a master builder but they're just not for me.Its just not for me but if You dig it more power to You and whatever makes You enjoy, have fun and be happy *_*
From my understanding the Vintage Modern has a JTM45 lineage. I remember reading an article where Steve Dawson said he designed it to be a hot-rodded JTM45/100. He said his design philosophy was imagining if the JTM series continued to evolve along a parallel path with the JCM.vm which is another jcm 800 liniage
Correct. The LDR mode is pure JTM 45/100. I probably should have used different words in my post, the grammar nazi are strong here.....tgp v2.0From my understanding the Vintage Modern has a JTM45 lineage. Nah, no grammar nazi. Just didn't realize you were talking tone of the HDR mode and not overall circuit.Correct. The LDR mode is pure JTM 45/100. I probably should have used different words in my post, the grammar nazi are strong here.....tgp v2.0
The HDR mode was described by some as a hot-rodded jcm 800 sound. It has an extra gain stage.
Regardless it is a fantastic amp, and is criminally underrated.
Love my 2466 halfstack!!!!
Great to hear you got one too.Nah, no grammar nazi. Just didn't realize you were talking tone of the HDR mode and not overall circuit.
I have a 2466 as well. I got it with the intention of modding it like Jason/Headfirst did to one. It sounded too good stock to change anything. My only sort of complaint is the volume difference between LDR & HDR, but I'm not switching between those on the fly so it's mostly a non-issue. Definitely an underrated amp. I think people just didn't get the idea when they first came out so they passed and it never caught on the way it should have.
This is something we can all agree on.....
Stock Vintage Moderns are fucking amazing *_*
The Clock strikes thirteen..... yet again
Actually, I didn't care for the Vintage Modern, couldn't force myself to like them lol. This is something we can all agree on.....

The Jubilee has the same power section as the jcm 800 as far as I know. Obviously they have different circuits as the Jubilee has 2 switchable channels, rythm clip etc...
The VMs HDR mode is emulating a modded jcm 800. I realize it isn't an exact copy of the 800 circuit....it actually is based off a jtm 45/100 and uses kt66 tubes.
I forget what George was using when I saw him in 1984, but his tone was pretty fucking killer.
Here is a video comparing theses amps:
Never liked them. Had plenty of them and recently picked up another cheap. Still don’t like them.I can't believe the 2203 has so many haters. This reminds me of the TGP thread where so many people said Eat Em And Smile sucked. Bizarro world.
Yes, let's hear what you guys actually like. What do all you guys that don't like 2203s like instead? Lots of "better amps out there" but no list of better amps
Wizards lmaoWhat do all you guys that don't like 2203s like instead? Lots of "better amps out there" but no list of better amps
Honestly I'm kind of jabbing but also more serious. I have had the ability to play the 2203x in store and its great, but would be curious for something new in the same price point. I like it more than the SB and BE 100 and have compared them in the same room.I have grown to appreciate the hotrodded plexi circuit more than the hotrodded 800 as well. That said, if I only had a stock 800, I could make it work easy.
As far as better amp, I would say for metal, the list is nearly endless.
Wizard mtl, mcii, hellrazor

Diezel bigmax, vhii, vh4

I really could go on
For rock, that is very subjective. But i think if I were only playing rock, i would take an 800 all day if only for the iconic sound
