Count me in for analog for sure. I could cry thinking of all the records and tapes (and stereos) that have been lost to the ages - all the good stuff!!

Digital's cool too, for sure. I love my cube amp and the Boss HM pedal is the greatest pedal of all time so there's that, but it's just not the same. The only surviving cassette tapes I've got are a well worn copy of Stained Class and a near-mint (in original cassette holder) copy of Ynwie's Trilogy.

I prefer analog when I can use it. The reality in 2026 is that a lot of venues are now requiring you to go direct. And despite our grand desire to be rock stars, we work in the liquor sales business. I don't like it, but that seems to be the trend.

After playing many hundreds of shows I've never seen a venue here in TX that required that. If a venue said "we're all DI here" I would tell them "great, just let me grab my tampon I mean modeler from the car" and then I'd go out to the bluesmobile and leave after dumping my ashtray and garbage into their parking lot. No compliance is the only option.
