She's legit and she practices here in the Houston area. The local liberal rag (only big newspaper here in Houston any longer) The Houston Chronicle ran a piece a few months ago on her and an incident where she was helping a deputy sheriff and his wife by prescribing him ivermectin..of course the hospital and medical board did not like that...total clown show
Texas Medical Board reprimands Houston doctor over treatment of COVID-19 patient
“I would do it all over again, without a doubt. I’m actually proud of myself for what I did,” Bowden said during the meeting.
...Bowden, an ear, nose and throat specialist, has garnered national attention for her opposition to COVID-19 vaccine mandates and her support for using ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication, to treat the virus. She filed a $25 million defamation lawsuit against Houston Methodist after the hospital suspended her provisional hospital privileges in late 2021, but a state district judge dismissed the case.
What the complaint said
The medical board's complaint focuses on Bowden’s prescription of ivermectin to a patient admitted to Texas Health Huguley Hospital in Fort Worth in October 2021. The patient, identified in court records as Tarrant County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Jones, was being treated for COVID-19.
His condition worsened and he was placed on a ventilator, according to the complaint. Bowden created an appointment note indicating that she spoke to Jones’ wife, and she prescribed ivermectin to Jones.
Right-wing figures have embraced the drug as a potential COVID-19 treatment, but most studies have found it has little or no effect on patients’ outcomes. Earlier this year, Gov. Greg Abbott signed a bill that made ivermectin available without a prescription.
The medical board determined Bowden did not have a prior relationship with the patient, and did not have privileges to treat patients at the Fort Worth hospital, according to the complaint.
Jones’ wife obtained a court order that would allow Bowden to treat her husband with ivermectin, but the hospital appealed the ruling. An appeals court paused the ruling, but instructed the hospital to allow Bowden to apply for privileges.
The hospital asked Bowden to complete an application, and Bowden informed the hospital she planned to send a nurse to administer the medication, according to the complaint. The hospital told Bowden she had not completed the application, so she did not have privileges.
The nurse’s arrival created a “disruptive scene,” and the hospital called the Fort Worth Police Department to remove her, according to the complaint. Bowden brought attention to the incident on social media, and posted photos of hospital staff, the complaint says.
The panel of administrative law judges determined that Bowden knew she did not have privileges when she sent the nurse to the hospital. Judges also determined Bowden may attempt to treat another patient at a hospital where she lacks privileges in the future, because “she declared that she would not act differently in the future, nor has she learned anything from this process,” court records say."
