I got out yesterday for a few hours running errands and it was like 5 o'clock traffic everywhere as people were out scrambling to get who knows what (the checkout girl was telling me when she got to work they had had a run on and how surprised she was people bought all of the bell peppers and bananas while also hoarding toilet paper and water). The media (TV and social) did a good job riling them up with this one as people here usually aren't even aware and don't start panic buying until the day before or so. We did lose power here twice yesterday as they were supposedly working on things in preparation for the cold but I'm not really worried about it, just will definitely avoid driving if things do ice over as that's a recipe for disaster here.
