At the end of the day what amp could you live with?

My Fortin Cali modded SLP. They'll bury me with that fucker.........

Do you mean you could live with as in have to settle for if you couldn't get what you really wanted? For me I guess that would be a Mesa MarkIII or MarkIV. They're affordable and most other amps in that price range don't stand a chance. I could see myself settling down with one someday :inlove:

Only if I wind up not being able to grab a VH4 though :D

I've been in a love/hate relationship with 5150s for ages. I would say that, but I know down road we'd get into another spat.

Never been happier with any amp that I have owned than my sweet little Evil Pumpkin. It actually is way more versatile than I have shown in my clips. I have a new clip of it with my Tele that will surprise the fuck out of most people.

The amp I live with is my SLO. It is the one I come back to. No tweaking required. Plug in old PRS, verb & delay pedal, and go. If I need a recto sound, hit the Wampler Triple Rec. Lots of other great amps out there but that is the one that fits like broke in boots.

Egnater Mod 50 - but I feel that's almost cheating because you can change the modules, so to play fair I'd say the Vx module, and any other modules is a bonus. This isn't a hypothetical either, it's the only amp line I own and I don't see that changing.

While Not My Favorite...

I'm a big advocate of the Egnater Renegade 65w Head. For a Bit over $1,000 Brand new, match it with the TM212 Cab, and you have a Gigable/Low Volume Bedroom amp
That has Gain, and Grind, Mojo, and Great Vintage tones... Nice Cleans, and a decent Reverb.

Very 80's John Sykes Whitesnake sounding... While I have better amps, I could definately live with this!

Roid RAGE

I have been thinking of ordering a bray 45/50 hybrid from david bray, it has got to be the best sounding Marshall voiced amp I have heard. or a Marsha with some options from dave friedman. I have to agree with above also with the 1974x with a klon also, I have this setup also and for low volume it kills

My Bogner 20th XTC :D

I can still keep my Axe-Fx for um… em… yeah... effects right? ;)

I'd have to say to date I'm still really impressed with my Baron K88, simply amazing. I'm really looking forward to the Baron B60 I have on order. Other than those I seem to always fall back to my Peavey VTM 60 or an old Peavey Road Master that have been heavily modded over the years, but I think that this selection is just out of habit and the fact that I've had these two amps for many years and use.

If I were just a better player, more amps would sound better

several amps come to mind...

Single Channels:
Makoplex
Deliverance
Gutierrez modded SL-X

Multi channel:
Titan Custom
Sig:X
Trem-o-verb
Mark VI
JVM

Solid State:
Randall X2
Dime D100

"Digital"
Axe-FX
Vetta II

I think the intent of this post is getting off-point. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) the spirit of the question was, "if it all went south, and you had to sell off all your prized gear, what amp could you still afford, gig with, and be satisfied tone-wise?" I think picking a boutique or top-of-the-line amp isn't "getting by with" anything.

Soooo... My answer would be the Jet City JCA100H. Even though it's only two-channel, that is a lot of amp that can be had for $400 in good used shape, or $599 new. Of course, then you need a cab. Other than that, I'd say a Hughes & Kettner Switchblade 100c. One-stop shopping and gig-ready with zero pedals.

Cheers,

Diezel Herbert for me. But if I had to pick a cheaper rig to be happy with I'd probably go with a 2 chan handwired Mesa Dual Rectifier. Or even cheaper, block letter 5150.

For me it would be my Mesa mark IVA. It does what I need it to do.
