Sweet performance & mix of this tune in Baltimore this past Wednesday! AxeFx2 sounding very good as well!

Cool video. Kirk sounded really rusty at the start of this tour cycle, but he seems to be back in the groove. Hopefully they do a smaller scale tour after the stadiums. I've seen those guys a couple of times, not going to drive all the way to Atlanta to see them.

Around 4:11 really has a Maiden-esque vibe. Reminds me of Hallowed Be Thy Name off of Live After Death.

Went to the show, it was great. Wasn't sure want to expect, it's been years since I last saw them. Band was right, James sounded good, Kirk surprisingly sounded good overall as well.

I was at the show, overall they sounded good and put on a great show. I loved their stage setup.
I had the whiplash package and got some cool pics of their gear that was in the memory remains exibit, i was glad they had james jh2 diamond plate explorer on display and got to hold it and take close up photos of it, also held kirks dracula, both had some roadwear and scars. i played kirks relic 001 thru a fractal and one of james white snakebytes. Tons of cool stuff to see from the old days, cliffs bass, james dont tread on me snake inlay mx250.

Went to the show, it was great. Wasn't sure want to expect, it's been years since I last saw them. Band was right, James sounded good, Kirk surprisingly sounded good overall as well.

Curious, how did the AxeFX fair in terms of clarity in the sound production? Could you tell the amps were missing?

Going to see Metallica July 7th in Miami. AX7 is the opener.......It'll be a 100% AxeFx night because both Metallica & AX7 are pure Fractal. I've only been hearing & seeing great reviews of their tone, playing & mix so far....

Metallica touring America with 100% AxeFx is not a cost saving decision. They could just as easily load amp heads on the trucks without a problem. There is not a weight issue like flying everything over to Europe...so they obviously just feel that it gives them a better consistent sound from night to night with no swapping out tubes & mic placement etc...etc...

Their legendary front of house guy 'Big Mick' said......"We wanted to hate the Fractal. All that work formulating and honing the Metallica guitar sounds was going to be lost. We couldn't have been more wrong! It opened the door to way more options than we had ever had before. In short, WOW. — “Big Mick” Hughes, Engineer, Metallica....

I did the Whiplash Experience in Philly on Friday night. Got to play their guitars and such... the Fractal AX8 units they have there have their actual presets in them. Kinda fun playing thru Hetfield's clean tone. Although, some over zealous fan in the Experience thing friday night took the plastic covers off of the AX8's to try and steal Hetfield's settings...ended up wiping out the presets. Ooops!! (they put plastic shields over them just so that they couldnt be messed with

Yeah, I could certainly tell a difference and wasn't the biggest fan of the tone. How much of that was because I knew? Can't say. Of course, I wasn't a fan of the tone just before the switch either. I much prefer the older rigs through the late 90s and into the early 00s.

The only time my ears perked up tone wise during the show was when Kirk brought out "Greenie". The moment he started playing the opening lead to FTB, I immediately took notice. That was killer tone regardless.

That's a magical guitar, heard Gary Moore play that live with the old Peter Green tunes period. How Hammett has this guitar is beyond me. He should gift it to more skillful soloists. Not exactly a guitar for compressed distorted work. Just my opinion though. He has the cash so he got the guitar. Hopefully he does not lose it like he did his ipod or whatever.

Agreed, Greenie sounded amazing!!!

Yes they could. In a huge stadium where the guys in the band probably can't here any stage sound anyway, why not. And nobody in a stadium full of 95% non guitar players would care.

And didn't Paul Coffee or Rebecca Dirks, or someone like that, do a Metallica gear walk thru for this tour yet?

They are on fire right now live! So tight and Hetfield is spot on vocally. Best they have been in years vocally or tightness wise. It's obvious they are focused and out to prove they still have it, even at their age.

Best live rock show ever IMO, if you have never seen them!
