Yeah yours is very close though. Most fractal clips sound more closed and not as open as I like, I am very familiar with this clip so wanted to hear how well tone match can get to it

Several attempts were all over the map but yours got really really close! Thanks for the example

I think this is all going to come down to the skill of the pilot :D

Here is my attempt, this is my 3rd time trying the TM stuff so I honestly dont really know what im doing with it yet.
This was done in like 5 minutes tops......First time the riff is played is yours second time is mine.

That sounds great

Thanks dood!
Im so far kind of shocked at how well this TM stuff works, it's not something I see me using a lot but pretty neat to play with.
I'm going to try it with my real amp and cab sometime this week, if it can get as close as that clip I posted to my VH4 then I will be really really impressed, I just don't see it getting the feel of the VH4 down and that's what really matters to me.

I wonder how well it could do Dino's demanufacture tone? one of my top 5 tones of all time...
I was trying to find some guitar tracks from Demanufacture the other day for tone matching, but couldn't come up with anything.

If you could just pull the drums out of the song "Demanufacture" or "Self Bias Resistor" right at the beginning of either you would have a great sample..
How can I do that? I think those both have bass too, but on that album it's barely audible anyway.

there is a song called "¡Resistancia!" on the demanufacture bonus edition that has isolated guitar in the start
its the best match on that album ...I've used it before with ozone to copy it perfectly
I'll be doing a tone match as well (i'd post it but will be away for 2 weeks as of tomorrow)

not one modern amp comes close to the heaviness, attack and bite that Dinos amp had

Be sure to post a clip of your micd amp ad the fractal tone match!!!!

I wanna give that tone a try
What would be a good starting point amp?
What tuning is that song in?

guitar was a 6 string tuned to B 25.5" scale with EMG 81 in the bridge
EMG 81 was a huge part of the sound....most 7 string pickups aren't so great...81-7 is the closest
His tone got worse when he started playing the 7 strings with the 707

His original amp was a modded 800 but its so far removed from that after the mods....best bet is just to use your ears and try as many high gain models as you can..try a boost as well

Ok tried it with that FF song yall where talking about
I thinks its pretty dang close for using a YouTube MP3 for the reference and using a old Burny Les Paul copy with Gibson 498 pickups.
The low end being a little lacking is what pop's out to me the most but by the time I noticed it I had all ready mixed it all down and frankly I was to lazy to go back and do it again.
Im pretty sure I could get this 98-99% there if I spent a little more time with it, whats weird is it sounded real close on my near fields but on my cheap speakers the lowend is gone and something in the high mids is pokeing threw...oh well

Anyway, first half is the clip I snagged off YouTube and second half is the TM double tracked, let me know what yall think...

good tone match. personally think the tone sounds something like mesquitos would like but thats me, you are good at the matching thing though.

Yea that FF tone is not my ideal tone either but it was fun to try and match it.

As for me getting good, I'm just pushing buttons and playing a few riffs.... Beginners luck is more like it...lol

Exactly. There's a lot of room for user interpretation: The amp sim and settings used, the cab sim used (if one at all), the quality of the audio source, the user's guitar and what me plays into the Axe-FX during the matching process, etc.... So results are bound to vary widely. Someone like midseye obviously has a knack for it (both those clips sounded pretty dead on to me).

Awesome! Would you happen to be able to share the patch, or maybe a .wav file of the beginning of this song, like the section you clipped out? I don't have this song on my version of the album, and would rather not Tone Match to an MP3 randomly found online. I try to avoid downloading music, so I'd rather not go hunting for MP3s. I doubt I could do anything better than what you have, but I've been trying to nail that sound for awhile!

the general idea of this feature is what prompted me to investigate line 6 products when they first came out. funny thing is their waveform comparisons of the real deal vs the model was radically different looking in the early ad.

amazing that only now does this tone xeroxing technology come to fruition. i said many times when i had the axe that i wanted to be able to identically recreate what ej or landau's tone sounded like on cd, via the DI output, and skip all the virtual caps and transformer hi and low junk, as well as what cab or amp i used. can't get around the pickup/gtr wood, but i can deal with that.

when i was in college in 85 we studied about how high definition was "right around the corner" and how the film guys swore they'd never bow to video. amazing parallel to old tube guard vs virtual tech embracing guys.

interesting observation-my friend who is a veteran of the la studio scene recounted a conversation between two big producers when the protools invasion began. their concern was "should we even be exposing ourselves to digital information in the first place" and how it could be harmful on a cerebral level, as it is purely artificial, and that the digital waveform at it's smallest fragment is incongruent to what occurs naturally in the real world.

kinda like margarine being one molecule away from tupperware :)

Sorry bro but I have not saved any of these patches or files.
Audioholic had a wav. file posted earlier in this thread that I used for the TM, the amp block I used was the pv6101 or whatever it's called with the controls in their default spots, I may have turned the gain up a pinch....have fun with it

Oops, I quoted the wrong post. I was listening and commenting on the Fear Factory match. I have the Demanufacture on CD but its not the bonus version with the track you matched.

I'll see if I can send you the intro wav file.... I'd do a match myself but I'm away for awhile

Sorry I didn't save any of that one either, I got the part I tone matched off a youtube clip of the song.

If you dont mind hook me up with that intro also, Im curious to see how much closer I can get it off of a good quality clip Vs a shitty youtube clip
