Although, i think only BYD and Slipknow on Iowa are DROP Bb.
You can't do drop A# tuning on a 7 string though.
Why buy a 7?![]()

You actually do not get that much more range with the top string. Just a couple extra notes at the very top.

not unless you get into a longer scale neck, 26.5"+
Not a requirement. My PRS at 25.5 holds B and A# just fine. Intonations is spot-on.
not a requirement, better overall results though, what string guage you running?
11-60, but I like super heavy strings. I use 12-62 on a baritone in A#.
For comparison, our other guitarist runs 10-56 on a Les Paul in B, and 11-58/60 on a PRS in A#.
"Better" is subjective. A baritone will generally have a rounder tone. If you're cool with that, awesome. It works for me on some songs, but not on others. Live, of course, it's a bit different. I use the baritone live because our heavier songs are in A# and I have a tendency to beat the shit out of it.

i have 12-56 on my les paul for standard tuning/drop D and my baritone has 13-68 on it for heading down to B or Bb. i like how the bari feels down there, but i could pull it off with my les paul if i wanted. love me some heavy strings
