Sounds good to me. and fwiw I think the playing was just fine. For someone to bash the playing, especially someone who's playing is um er yeah.. ok never mind..

I am really digging mine. I almost sent it back at first. Was playing it thru the Engl and it had a lot of overlap of tone. When I run it thru my clean channel of the recto it's a total different beast.
 Glad I kept it. Was playing it tonight. Going back and forth between the recto lead and the Friedman be. The Friedman adds a lot more thicker mids. And that's what I wanted this pedal for since day 1. Really a great piece of gear. :)
And yes the feel factor when playing it is awesome.

:) That is so insane that you can get Mesa and Marshall tones with the use of a pedal. :)
Easy to do with my 2C+ and Boss OD1X....

I'd like to hear the BE-OD in the clean chanel of a Recto! Someone can do it?
I will do just that and post it tonite. ;)

Based on that clip, how exactly does the amp "win?  The pedal/ clean channel is lower volume w/ less treble dialed in. Guy didn't match the 2 sounds up even in volume.

I think had the pedal been "Dialed in" it would have been more than close enough for most.
I love the pedal, personally it saved me a ton of cash!

Is there really any question that a $3800 amp is going to "beat" a $200 pedal? The question is, does it beat it by $3600?

Judging by the clips so far.... my answer would be absolutely not.

I have both and the answer is no. It's definitely a cool alternative though for a little money.

Ive actually prefered the clips of the pedal over the real amp.... but they are clips and they only get you so far. What do you prefer about the amp that makes it worth the money?

Cool riffing on some Bowie/Ronson

I have never owned a real BROWN EYE amp from Friedman.
But I have owned 3 of his modded 'kitchen sink' amps. Fully modded Marshalls.

They are great! But the Pedal into my Mesa Gets me not in the ball park..... But parking right next to it.

again.....I have not played a real BE 100 amp though. Just speaking from my experience. ;)

In certain clips I've heard a really pissed off tone from the pedal that I don't hear from the amp.

I have to agree. I've played kitchen sink mods, the BE-100, SS and JJ. I have the BE-OD and SIR Compre right now. I personally feel the pedals capture the real amps tone...hiss and all.

What I really want to try is using the BE-OD straight into a Mesa Strsgey 400.

That pedal really gels with the Mesa.
Jammed last nite. Really a nice thick full mid tone from the be pedal thru the Mesa.
But by the end of the night it was full lead channel of the Mesa.
But this pedal is no slouch by any means. Recommend!!

One thing we haven't been focusing on with this comparison is volume. The pedal can be played at low volume obviously and has that killer tone. Obviously the amp will sound "ideal" when cranked.

I will say that I think it is pretty phenomenal that Dave has been able to capture some of the magic from his amps into a pedal. I mean, think about how cool that is. I'm sure there are a few pedals out there that do a similar type of thing, making you feel like you are playing thru an amp, but I'm not enough of an expert. I owned a Suhr Riot pedal years ago and although cool, wasn't even on the same level with this pedal.

The Bogner Red and Blue pedals come to mind . I love the Red pedal but even with the extra features it has I'd still take the BE-OD over it at the moment
