I mean really, WTF is that about?

Emergency situation understood.

People search and search, find it, and sell it

I have wondered the same thing since I joined her last September..
If X & X is so good why are so many people getting rid of them..

Then after a while I have come to realize you people have a sickness that I do not think any single Amp will cure

I hear ya   I still have my first Marshall head I ever bought, a 1981 JCM 800 2204 I will never sell this amp

i don't know why people feel the need to BS like that when selling stuff. or blaming it on the wife man i really hate that one, it makes the guy look like an ass and the wife like a heartless person. every time i read that i think, why on earth would you marry such an evil person that makes you sell your stuff, do you have no spine, are you that whipped? did she sell her shoe collection or jewelry too?  i get needing to sell stuff to feed the family and pay the bills that's a priority over a guitar or amp but if you're wife honestly says you have to sell that guitar or amp because you have too many, you married one evil heartless bitch!

anyway, people sell stuff because they need money for other things, want a new toy, or just didn't like that first item but that doesn't mean it won't work for me so i don't see the need for people to justify why it's for sale in the first place, it's for sale because it is. half the time you know damn well when a story comes with the sale the guy just didn't like it and is full of crap about their broken down car or something like that.

I have a buddy like that with bass gear. He keeps bringing over a different "best amp/ or bass ever" every month. Funny thing is that his tone is the same no matter what gear he is using. He keeps selling them cause he finds the next "best". Whats really funny is that he keeps on going back to the same gear. Ampeg -to - eden - back to ampeg -to mesa - back to ampeg. Im completely convinced he has no clue about gear and he uses some kind of fucked anti-logic to convince himself that he NEEDS something new every month. Its like hes uses the term "best ever" to justify his extreme case of GAS

Difficult to watch :scared:

thats impressive

i knew someone that worked and repaired a plexi in town, the amp to be repaired was an all original 1970's model SLP, and it looked like it. the original owner owned it his entire life. he gave it to his brother when he passed away and i knew the guy doing the repairs.

the brother didnt even play music, but ill never forget that. i havent seen many all original early 70's plexi's.

he should get it modded for $960.00.

First 2 I did not do this, my 3rd one was the charm.

They all speak the truth.

Problem is if you find the perfect amp, what are you supposed to do with it? You'd have to actually play it. And most people don't have time for that because they talk about finding the perfect amp in web forums all the time. :D

I've sold alot of amps, my only reason for ever selling an amp is because I like something else I have better or I absolutely hate the amp. I always just assume that from others regardless of what they write. Just cause I hate something, doesn't mean someone else will too.

I always hate when people say..."I'm definitely getting another one of these," cause that's generally complete BS

Ah the old Pump-n-dump schick, nuk nuk.

Just your everyday fadcore scene activity on the gear forums.

I do have a theory though behind the madness:

If your the type of person that needs to try out whatever is popular on the forums at any given moment in time, you have to keep the gear flowing through your revolving door at a pretty constant rate of speed or else you'll lose more money.

Once you get in the gear-go-round rat race you have to keep moving.

The trick is to buy the gear right before it peaks in popularity on the forum and still has potential to build momentum for flavor of the month, and even personally contribute to the popularity cycle (pump it up   ).

Then just as it crests in popularity to a feverish pitch, bam! you dump it off for the highest possible resale. If you hang onto the gear after the fad starts to fade away, you might have to take a greater loss when you sell it.

Then you move on to the next piece of gear and repeat the pattern.

Now if you buy a piece of gear as a keeper you don't need to worry about this. These people seem to be in the minority though, and most people willingly want to keep moving and trying new stuff it seems. Chasing these people's gear is a fools game at best, by the time you buy it they will have moved on to something else anyway.

Lead, don't follow.

I hear you. I have been with my OD100Se+ going on to 4 years and still it is my favorite. There are amps out there I would like to buy. I would not sell my CAA to get them though. I have had a few amps that were just sitting around that I sold and I really regret letting them go.

even with a bass, tone is in your hand, and ampeg rules when it comes to bass

One of the last posts gives me a nice idea for the name of the species frequenting this forum: We're just amp brokers!

The Amp Broker:
It sounds like an occupation, and indeed, occupies most of the disposable time of the individual following his obsession, however usually it doesn't generate any income. He will never make any money with amp brokerage, but he will always need to have internal confirmation that he made a good deal on the last acquisition or sale. Amp brokers always ensure to speak highly of the assets they intend to dispose of, and either don't mention or just keep a low profile on the objects they desire.

The most recent phenomenon in amp brokerage is that brokers wouldn't trade amps anymore, but amp options. Due to lack of availability of the real product, certain amps are only traded via options, one popular example being Cameron.

At the moment Put Options of Wizard amps are very cheap, and I recommend buying them, as many opinion leaders got these amps in their posession recently, and an oversupply on the 2nd hand market is to be expected within a few months.

My favorite is, "gotta sell, need the money! Rent/car payment/mortgage is due!"

followed in the same ad by...

"Will consider trades".

You guys know I sell/trade alot of amps. Some I have claimed were KILLER SUPREME.....Yadda Yadda.......
I have never used THE BEST AMP I have ever played....UNTIL NOW!
I have owned alot of cool amps that sounded really good but .....
This Rivera KR7 is the best thing I have owned and played. Not going anywhere.
When I had other amps......they were new tones and I guess Honeymoon Periods.....
But they all hit the road.
I dont have that feeling with this Rivera.
May not be for everyone but it suits me perfect.

And YES THIS IS THE BEST AMP I HAVE EVER PLAYED!
(for trade or sale....Dog needs a Liver transplant) :hys:
