My favorite is, "gotta sell, need the money! Rent/car payment/mortgage is due!"

followed in the same ad by...

"Will consider trades".

This is always the one that makes me scratch my head

+1

I'm always wondering if these people realize how easy it is the see through the BS when they have blatantly contradicted themselves in the span of three or four sentences...

I mean really, WTF is that about?

Emergency situation understood.

People search and search, find it, and sell it

Guilty.. I am definitely guilty of selling amps that I really do like. Although I refrain from terms like best ever. No such thing. Some amps I will likely not sell, others come and go. I only have so much $ in my gear and travel fund, so if I want something, or want to go on a surftrip, usually something else has to go to fund it. Oh yeah and I am an ampwhore.

I'm guilty as well, Looking back I would be happy with any of the amps I have owned, the ampwhore in me disagrees though.

Let the dirty amp whore out

I have one right now that may stick around for a while :D

The thread is too long to read right now so this might have been said...

What I absolutely fucking hate is... "My son/daughter needs a kidney transplant so I really need the cash..."

Then 5 posts later the person who is in dire need of money to save a relative's life posts "Trade pending for a Bogner XTC!!! "

Such bullshit. I guess the kidney wasn't that important.

For me it's about the thrill of the pursuit. I may as well not even play guitar anymore  .

I also rather enjoy 'I will own another some day!!!!'
then why get rid of it if it's 'so good?'

I think people are afraid to say they don't like something when they're trying to sell it..as if that'll taint the item they're trying to sell and prospective buyers will be scared to throw money at it..

I've said that many times...and I've meant every single time. The reason I sell an amp is to try something else. Sometimes I regret it and sometimes it pays off. I just can't justify keeping several amps around at one time...I've got better things to do with my money

I've said it a few times and meant it as well, especially when I'm talking about studio gear. Many times I just needed something for a specific project, or even something I needed more depending on the timeline of where I was in a project.

I know what you're trying to say though, and I'm sure there's a fair share who used this line as bs.

I'm selling my wife. She was the best woman I ever had. I tried out every woman there and this one was the keeper. She is too much woman for me. But I will get another one someday. I need to sell to finance my kids college - trades considered. Etc...

Any dings, dents or scrapes?
How about "rack rash"?!??!?

some may mean it, some may not....it's just not something that 'needs' to be put in the ad..just like the OP...'the greatest sounding amp I've ever had..for sale!'....same thing here....I'm sure most times it's because they just don't like it...but they want to make sure that them not digging it doesn't turn people off from the sale...

I recently sold my Cameron Aldrich. It is still a killer amp and I only sold it to get something else. It doesn’t mean it sounds any worse because I sold it… The new owner loves it and knows it is a good one. Heck, I had it for 3 years myself... ;)

The real cause for concern is when people buy and sell it within a few weeks. Makes you wonder how "killer" it really is/was
I also just sold a Cameron amp that was a good one. I know 1st hand Dave's true intentions on letting his Cameron go and that was to gain another killer piece of gear and the guy that got his amp is Happy, so no harm no foul.
I let my white Cameron go to Todd because I got to a point that I knew I had other Cameron amps and I just asked myself ' HOW MANY CAN I PLAY AT ONE TIME?' I also wanted to gain another piece of Killer gear so I moved an amp that I felt I could live without. And I got two more to go in it's place.

I put myself in this category as well. I find that even if I could afford a huge room full of gear there is no way I could justify it my mind. There is so much gear out there to try that I have sold stuff I like to try others. I am pretty much at a point where its safe to say if I own it I like it. I know what works for me and what does not now. There is gear that I would love to try/own that I won't even consider because I can't see tying up as much money as I have invested in three or four guitars/amps on one guitar/amp.

what I find amusing about gear for sale is how many smoke free studios there are in the world. Some of the amps I have bought that have never left a smoke free studio must have been in a UPS truck with a chain smoker cause smoke free they were not.

Feeler ~ reach-around .... for what ever reason every time I hear this word the other pops into my head.
I well own a other ~ I have said this .... it just sounds stupid.

The real question is why anyone would feel the need to tell a story when they sell something at all ?

+1 other than the specs a link to reviews and some decent sound samples there is nothing else to add....

although I like creative listings like I read an ebay listing for a peavey classic ( I think it was a peavey classic) that that amp was haunted any everyone that owned the amp mysteriously died and it gave a story about three or four different owners that died.. If your going to tell a story at least entertain while telling it.
