I'd like to get into something a little heavier. Last time I was looking, a lot of people were really liking Diezel FL cabs with G12K-100s.

I'm looking for something pretty crushing. Would like a good midrange, but prefer something tight too. Any opinions on the VHT cabs with P50Es?

Or is a V30 X G12T-75 still pretty standard in a Marshall cab?

Good midrange and tight? Mesa Traditional/Stiletto V30 cab. If you want a shift in the mids more towards the low mids, get the Oversized/Recto/Standard or whatever the fuck they call them today.

this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but Mills Acoustics Afterburner with Mesa V30's.

So far my tried and true is a Mesa straight/slant baffle 4x12 with v30's/c90's in an "x" pattern, every amp through it sounded bad ass.

A Splawn 2x12 sounds as big as most 4x12 cabs, same with the VHT FatBottom 2x12.

May be unpopular for this as well but I dig my CAA 212's . Tight and huge sounding.

Might look into a Traditional. I've actually got a Rectifier 4x12. It does its thing, but IMO its thing is not modern metal.

Not really looking for a 2x12. Any opinions on Marshall or Bogner?

played an Uberschall cab with the Uber, Engl powerball, and a Herbert. Good imo

You have a all straight recto cab? I found those to be the loosest of the bunch. I'd love to try a bunch of different cabs to see if I'm limiting myself with my cab if I had a chance but I'm always too busy.

Yup, it's a straight cab. Quite loose...

I have a few different cabs, but they're set up for a more vintage vibe right now. Might change things up a little though.

The Marshall 4x12s seem hard to beat for most things. $300 used isn't too bad either. Just wondering if something stands out that can blow them away for metal.

I really liked the framus cobra cab
although it has greenbacks, that thing sounds TIGHT and it was definitely the most in-your-face sounding cab at band situation I ever played
I love how it cuts through the mix live while keeping the greenbacks midrange texture

My two go to cabs for metal are my Mesa Trad. 4x12 and Krank Rev.4x12. I really like V30s or V12 Legends for a Brutal metal tone.

I use a Marshall 1960BHW with Heritage G12H30's and i play Punk/Hardcore.

It really depends on your amp.

In general though, I have to agree the Mills Afterburner with V30s can sound huge. And it's tough to go wrong with a Recto cab.

I had VHT Fatbottom 4x12 and a Bogner Ubercab but sold both. I now have a Bogner straight standard cab.

I thought the P50es sounded good at first, but got tired of them pretty quickly. And definitely wouldn't say they have a strong midrange. I think they do sound closer to K100s than V30s. Ubercab was pretty good, but I think the standard Bogner rearloaded cab kills them both. Plenty tight, more chunky, not as bright as the frontloaded designs. The VHT is also very, very directional.

I don't do 7/8 string or tune any lower than D standard or some drop C, so I can't really speak to that aspect.
