I don't think you need to be nasty to people to make a point. That's why we butted heads. You can disagree with people without belittling them. You should ask yourself do you want to bring joy to people in this life or make them miserable. I seriously think you would be happier when you get to the end of your life if you have brought more joy to people than the other way around.

There is just a lot of grey area. “Illegal” implies something criminal, and it’s not criminal to come in to our country. It also implies , to me at least, that it can’t be changed. The only difference between an “illegal” immigrant and a “legal” one is some paperwork. Documents if you will.

I'm OK with most of what you are saying in post #25 - but there are also people coming to the US across the southern border who are documented criminals in the country they are coming from or passing through. That one dude had been shipped out of the US several times. Not to mention the countless drugs, freaks and sex trafficers. That is really what is killing us. I think for the most part he is equally critical of his own country.

But I think this does stand as a testament to how powerful and influential the United States is. Other countries know about our issues (and successes). Our news is often in their news, or at least more so than we report on other countries. We seem to only talk about when large groups of people die in other parts of the world

Humility isn't my personal issue. Everyone has an ego, myself included. It's the attempts at trying to turn things said into things that weren't said or vice versa. I can understand misconstruing things on the internet, but it wasn't even close to that. It was very much an attempt to gaslight someone who was bit exhausted from the pseudo intellectual nonsense and called him out on it.

Anyways, I really don't care anymore, as when it comes down to it he means nothing to my life. My own ego let it bother me more than it should have and I kept playing along with his trolling when I should have just moved on and let him continue to make himself look like an ass. It took me a while to realize that's what another member was doing, and I should have paid closer attention.
