Had an Ecstasy Classic. Great amp, but not as great as my Fish preamp. Unloaded the Classic and, about 6 months later, unloaded the Fish and all of my rack gear.

Now I have a 20th Anny Shiva, which I like better than both the XTC and Fish.

That having been said, the merry-go-round continues..... :D

Hey, I sent a pm regarding the 20 shiva VS the classic.

I may end up with this 101b because it's local but I think I would really love the more open classic.

The white chassis 101B is hands-down the best sounding XTC I've ever owned. The 100B was sweet, but it's clean channel was a generic "Fender" type with no chance of break-up at all. Kind of boring really... The 100B effects loop is a bit quirky also, and can be noisy/buzzy if you have the amp turned too low. The w/c 101B will give you 25 watt class A "tweed" tones like you wouldn't believe! My later model 101B's had a bit more gain, but were too compressed sounding for me. The musical director of Full Sail University has practically begged me to sell my '95 101B... I just can't do it. I have a 2 x 12 pine cab w/Alnico Golds as "Cabinet A" (assigned to the green channel), and a 4 x 12 pine cabinet w/Vintage 30's as "Cabinet B" (assigned to the blue and red channels). It's the most versatile rig I've ever owned for sure. It covers just about every tone I can think of - except for Cornford and VOX. I can get close to the VOX AC30 tones with the Alnico cab - but no cigar!

I have serious, serious GAS for one of these. Considering trading my VH4 for one if I can find any owners in the UK. Just such a killer amp - so much punch.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,no. Different amps altogether man, that's why I couldn't have one without the other. They're coming from 2 different places - the VH4 and the X. I don't want to choose and hence have a Bogner and Diezel as my keepers   I'm just saying, don't jump too fast as the VH4 is an outrageous amp - it's in its own class man, JUST like the 20thA

I made the leap from a VH4 to a 20th XTC last year. I miss my VH4 sometimes, but the Bogner is more organic for sure. Both great amps though!

20th Anniv. XTC owner here.

It's not without it's little quirks (like channel 1 not being able to keep up with 2 / 3 at all in terms of volume), but it's simply a piece of gear I will never ever get rid of. Perfect for me, and puts a smile on my face every single time I play through it.

There's a white-chassis 101B on ebay now for $2500.00 USD.

Link? I can't find it when I search bogner.
Type in: Bogner Ecstasy. He has it up for $2500.00 or BO. I had both a 92 100B, and my 95 white-chassis 101B at the same time. I ended-up selling the 100B and my MK50H II in favor of the white chassis 101B. Not as compressed as the later XTC models; which may or may not be what you want? The cabinet switching option is the coolest feature ever!

Looked everywhere no findie. Someone must have bought it

You also need a fish too ;), do yourself a favour and buy a fish preamp and run it in your return effects loop then go buy a xtc 20th anniv too :P

For sure, I'll always have a Diezel. The Herbert is my dream amp: it's just absolutely perfect for what I do. The Mesa and Engl give me different flavours of high gain tone, too. But I want something more organic too...

I think you're right. I nearly purchased it myself - but that would have been a shameful display of greed... :D My favorite Bogner's so far: "Fish", white chassis 101B, and the 20th Shiva.

Thing just oozes tone...

Steve of 39 Stripes tells me that he's really loving his new Rhodes amp... Anyone else have any experience with these?

I am pretty much feeling similar things here. I have a Diezel Herbert and it's not going ANYWHERE.

Then we have the Bogner 20th XTC. Again a different animal, more organic is a great way to put it. The 20th has a variety of options as well. Lot's of tonal possibilities and as Brad mentioned, great foot controller. I would love to hear about settings that people are loving with their 20th XTC's, if that's not off topic.

I think in the end what V said is true, you find a few amazing amps and you stick with them. Others come and go, but these are the "must have's."

I've owned a XTC 100-B, and (2) 101-B's. I've played both the 6L6 and EL-34 20th Anniversarys. The 100-B and EL-34 20th are my favorites. I've also played the Rhodes. It's one of my favorite 6L6 loaded amps :)

I think the ecstasy is a great amp. Owned one in the late 90's. Just don't get one thinking you'll get great Marshall tones. I sold it because I missed that certain top end thing that a good 70's, early 80's Marshall gets. Don't get me wrong, I think the Bogner is sweet but it's a different animal. The blue channel is nice but I'd take a good 6 knob Marshall any day over it. I'd love to have one now because i wouldn't be trying to replace my Marshall with it. They are a warmer, darker amp but I found if you pretty much max the presence they can rock pretty hard and the red channel really comes alive for more metal stuff. I just wish the clean channel would break up worth a damn i.e. toneful breakup, not the harsh thing it has now. If the clean channel could distort more musically I bet in class A mode it would be a killer.

I personally have no need for a gritty clean channel. I like a pure clean like a shiva. So maybe the classic Aka 100b would be best suited for me.

Great posts guys. Thanks for all the input. This is why I'm coming here more and more!

I have the 6L6 version, great Fendery cleans

And you live kinda close to me. Let me know your address and when you leave town :gethim:

Seriously though I've never cared for 6L6s but I do think they are a good fit for this amp.
