I have zero interest in being in a band again. I don't have the patience to work with other people who have different goals, schedules, work ethics, commitment, attitudes, etc.

I don't have the same level of commitment and drive to practice many hours a day to be worse / less capable than I was 30 years ago thanks to arthritis, I can't even play things I was able to play 10 years ago... never mind 30+ years ago.

That said, it would be great to find a drummer into similar styles / music ideas not looking to make extra pocket money.

I dislike programming drums; I have an electronic kt which helps, but no room to keep it set up and ready to go at all times; same with many of my keyboards.

Realistically, I just need to get better at programming drum parts, and put in the effort to learn, and find a way to make it less tedious, tolerable for more than an hour, or even fun/enjoyable. I have bass, keys and guitar parts and ideas worked out to various degrees...just need to get the knowledge and discipline of learning / doing the drums.

Jamming is the reason why nothing got done lol

Rehearsals are for performing finished songs, performing half finished songs, trying changes made to finished songs, or adding parts to finished songs

it's not for getting stoned and someone plays a I IV V or a riff so everyone can wank off - everyone can do that at home, and much more comfortably now

There's no reason to have a "jam sesh" unless you're trying to work something specific out. Aimless jamming is for stoned teenagers, not adult musicians

Write songs, rehearse songs, perform songs

Idk I think if you play the same shit and just rehearse there’s no soul . It’s a balance . But the best songs come from writing with a drummer in a room and allowing the song to develop naturally . I highly disagree
Jamming is where best riffs come
You let it write itself that way . No preconceived hey guys here how my song goes play it like this
I love you Dan but you’re missing out on freedom . Especially when your guys are good enough .

That's fine if you enjoy jamming man

It's just that's not how bands work and get shit done - they write songs and then perfect them in the practice room instead of fucking around pretending they are achieving soul enlightenment

If getting stoned and jamming writes all the best riffs then record some of them and show us, otherwise it just sounds like you aren't really a band guy

It's the same thing people do with drum machines writing songs at the computer, just with the luxury of a real human drummer
