How do they compare - construction-wise?

I'm thinking about buying a Splawn 412 with all big blocks and maybe selling my Uberkab. Maybe I'll keep it though because the Roadster sounds great through it.

I purchased a used Splawn cab with 2 MOW and 2 Govs and I am loving it. Infact, I am kinda playing with the idea of selling my VHT slant 412 and get a Splawn slant 412 instead.

Construction wise.. I think they're great. I've never played a Bogner, so I couldnt compare, but from my experience with the Splawn 412 so far, I am very very impressed and happy with it.

The only reason I would ever sell a Bogner cab is if I didn't need it and needed money. I think they are hands down the best. I prefere the slants over the straights though.

I have 2 Bogner and 2 Splawn cabs. Construction-wise I don't think you can go wrong with either - they're built like tanks. Unfortunately, sonically I can't really compare them as I have vastly different speakers in them. My Bogner's have V30's or V30/H30's and the Splawns have Eminence Governor/?? (Manowar, I forget) in an X pattern. I think the Splawn cabs are a great bargain - or at least were, I don't know what the prices on them are now.

i've got Bogner and Splawn cabs.


i'll take Splawn over Bogner. better price, better build, and better fit and finish.


i do however like that the Bogner cabs are dampened on the inside. which is no big deal to add to the Splawn.

Thats what I wanted to hear. I think I'll keep the Uberkab incase I get another Uberschall someday. I do like the dampening in the cab. I added batting to my Diezel cab and improved the tone quite well.

There is one thing that I think's ridiculous with the Bogner cabs. You pay big bucks for a killer cab, then it comes with the crappiest casters I've ever seen. After a couple of gigs, you couldn't make my Bogner cab roll straight. Everyone in the band used to tease me, since my buddies Marshall cab rolled perfectly at half the price. lol... Really though, that's annoying. Those casters SUCK.

My VHT D412's roll great and sound better than the UberKab I used to have, so I'm happy.

I ordered huge 4" casters from MESA and installed them on my Bogner cab. Now, it's like rolling a gurney around...very easy and one of the best music investments I've made.

do the Bogner cabs your talking about have there version of the "tra-loc" casters?
Mine has the regular old style Marshall pop in/out casters...and it rolls just fine.

I have no experience with Bogners, but i can't say enough good things about Splawn cabs.

Pop 'em off and bolt on some of those Mesa casters. Those casters are THE SHIT.

I have both Splawn and Bogner 4x12's and they are killer cabs. The Splawn cabs are a helluva buy for the coin. The Splawn has manowars an guvnors and the Bogner has V30's so its not really an accurate comparision tone wise...construction wise they appear to be on par to each other. I do like the Boger just a little a bit better tho...Best cab I ever owned and whatever amp I run through it souds good to my ears

Geez, I must be going through some kinda of phase because I'm to the point now that speaker choice to me is more important than the actual cab. I think if you have a decent made cab with your favorite choice of speakers then your pretty much there. I mean I've bagged on the Marshall 1960A for so long and now it's my main cab...I also own a Splawn with GB's and GH30's, a 5150 w/ the Sheffields, a vintage Marshall with "real" greenbacks and they all sound great...all made with birch. Today I played through the Marshall Vintage Modern cab and it rocked, played through the 5150 III cab and it rocked...played a Herbert through a 1960B and it knocked my cajones in the dirt....sounded better to me than the Diezel cab. I'm kinda going back to being a complete Marshall fan...I just think as long as it's decently made, has your fav speakers then your there. The only cab that I can personally say was maybe a notch above anything else was my old Mojave 4x12...r.i.p. IMO.
