Can a Matamp/Green amp GT120 chug for thrash?

Would thrash chugging on a GT120 sound like shit? Are these amps only good for sludgey doom?

i suspect with a good boost in front it could. otherwise it may be a bit too loose.

I used a lightly modded GTO 120 for “thrash/black” metal for some time. My taste in gear was very much stoner/doom oriented when I picked that thing up but I was always playing more fast and aggressive stuff as well as some post metal and sludge. The GTO is basically a GT120 but they were built with a master volume stock and maybe cleaner? It was secondhand even back then (2008). I ran mine with 5881’s and that seemed to modernize it somewhat. But the tone was always pretty raw and hairy. I was just chasing the tone of those early-High on Fire and Sleep albums at the time but eventually I figured out I could basically the same sort of tone out of a VTM or Laney, so I sold it and went that route. Now I wish I hadn’t. I dud manage to record this album with it if you’re interested. The cab was a 1960b with UK G12-T75s. One if the speaker I intentionally tore the cone, so that may have contributed more to how nasty it sounds.
