These 2 will cover some ground and sound good doing so.


Also like the Ruby STR, but would put it behind the above 2 in most amps.

Alright I have some RFTs and JJs (both from the '60s) on order. We'll see how they fare.

If you never tried the Teslas or RFTs before get ready to go FUCK!!!! You will never buy new production tubes again

Just following up.

After testing out all these tubes in my Peters Hydra, so far the best sounding and most consistent pair in terms of maintaing bias has been the Electro Harmonix EL34. I'm really pleased with this one. I also just received the NOS RFTs and will try them out today or tomorrow. But I'm surprised by the EH. They are inexpensive and I'm sorry I waited this long to try them. They are more aggressive and tighter than the SEDs. At least in this amp. I like 'em a lot.
