reminds me of O'Rourke's modded Ceriatone

Funny thing is I put the Jose-style MV circuit with switchable diode clipping in that amp a couple weeks ago, haven't made good clips yet but it slays.

Break out the pitchforks and torches boys, some other guy is "ripping off Cameron" too!

I don't understand what you mean. The value of the resistor has no bearing on it being insulated with heat-shrink or not. It's about what type of signal is going thru the lead and where it's located in the circuit. Some components require heat-shrink to prevent oscillation, noise, shorting out on other parts, etc. It's not about being secretive...

Some builders goop up their builds to hide things. With Ceriatone, that isn't the case. The whole basis of Ceriatone's business is DIY and the ability for the customer to build, modify and have an intimate knowledge of what's going on inside the amp. There's no reason to hide anything.

How many amps have you built?

I've built a jose type marshall an slo clone type and now doing a modded master volume.
thanks for asking. As far as being secret go to ceriatones web site and see if you can order piece parts or see any gut shots. This amp is not a diy kit that nik sells it is a complete amp that some people say it was copied.
What components have you found need shrink wrap to prevent oscillation?

It's usually a good idea to get swamp resistors as close to the tube pin as possible and shrink wrap them, isn't it? Especially in an SLO. When you have a resistor or other component in series with a flying lead, it's a good idea to wrap it. I misspoke, though. Heat-shrink can help reduce vibrations to certain components. And it will insulate, which is the main point, isn't it?

So from reading this little topic i gather there are no known amp plans for the Chup. Thats a bummer... I have been wanting to do a first build of an amp for along time now. I would like to use Ceriatone as the DIY supplier. BUT, I dont want to build another copy of a Marshallish amp and then go about with all the BS of modding it to sound good (for me anyways) I was bumbed because when I first started looking into the Chup, I thought that it would be perfect and complement my current setup... anyways maybe in the near future Ceriatone will make it a DIY kit or maybe come out with a kit thats like it... that would be very EXCITING to me...


Looks like a great amp. I cant wait to here more clips.

While I personally don't think that this amp is a cameron copy or anything, I don't understand how some people could base so much off a video clips which honestly if you go on youtube more then half sound like total shit. How is that a good judge of an amp, that and when you have never played it on. Of course this whole rant is just my opinion so take it for a grain of salt.
