I just recently acquired a mint Charvel Model 6. I have noticed a scratchiness in the volume control when I turn it. Would contact cleaner take care of it with no damage to the electronics?
Actually the pots are a bitch. They are soldered to a little PC board for the mid boost. Contact cleaner hopefully should do it. I have had my Model 6 since 1990 and am on my third volume pot.

I am fairly new to this. Is the middle nob what is called the "mid-boost"? Other than that, this is an outstanding playing guitar. I have a PRS Bud Edition and a Yamaha SA500. The tones and playability of the Model 6 is so much better than either of the other ones. I am using it through an old ART processor with the X-15 Ultra-Foot and it just sounds great.

Not a big deal if your good with a soldering iron and can solder to a tiny PC board in a tight space. Not everyone can.
It's not as simple as replacing a standard pot. If I remember correctly they use a specific pot that was plastic and was soldered directly to the board and I remember it being very tight. I ended up soldering longer leads coming off the board so I could use a standard CTS pot.
