Per capita, orders of magnitude is a gross exaggeration. The uncomfortable fact for those on the left though is this. If you eliminate young, black, urban males from the equation the U.S. is like 17th in the world. And if you eliminate the same group, specifically those 15 to 19 years of age, guns don’t crack the top ten list of things that kill the most children.

People have been killing each other long before firearms were invented.
Those that have no access to firearms and want to kill, will find some other way to kill.
Criminals don't follow gun laws, so passing more of them only affects those that wouldn't break them anyways, and does nothing to affect criminals who will 100% break them.
Blaming the object is intellectually bankrupt, outlawing every object that could be used to kill would leave us with nothing.
Mental illness and lack of morals, lack of appreciation for human life in general is imho the driving force behind all of this killing.

How many people have you killed with your guns? Zero? Me too.

What is different about our guns who have killed no one, and those guns that have killed people?

By definition, criminals DO NOT obey laws. We have thousands of years of evidence to support this. They have would have no problem obtaining illegal guns starting today, just as they obtain illegal drugs, steal things, rape/murder people, etc.

That's not how it works. Stricter gun laws do nothing to address the core problem. The crime and people committing it needs to be addressed not the tools being used. Just look at Britain for example. They implemented strict gun laws then got the reputation of stabbing capital of the world. Same violent crime, different tool because the root cause was not addresses.

Let me put it in a way you might relate to. If you keep shanking balls into the woods round after round; do you blame the ball, or the clubs? Or would it make more sense to work on your backswing?

You want to ban/restrict/limit religion and guns. Perhaps the loss of faith is part of the driving factor behind the use of firearms in crime since it has risen to higher and higher levels the more secular society at large seems to have become. Back when you had hardware stores selling machine guns and dynamite this was never a real problem on the same level so the issue isn't one of availability but rather one of moral accountability. If there is no god then it does make sense that shooting people, especially rival gang members, is no big deal.
