cutting pickup pole screws on Suhr Aldrich change tone??

Maybe a stupid question but, I have a pickup going into a direct mount guitar and the pole screws are longer than the legs. If I cut these down so I dont have to route out any wood will it affect the sound of the pickup?

Yes.

Will it be noticeable, depends on how sensitive you are.

Even just swapping screw alloy changes things but with the metal parts it's very very subtle.




Also, I've clipped them when necessary before without issues, sometimes you have to make them fit.

Really? I've never noticed any difference. Is the longer screw supposed to alter some part of the magnetic field or something?

Yeah it changes the shape of the magnetic field.

Called Suhr and the guy said not to do it. Said it definitely would alter the tone. I said screw it and went ahead and drilled 6 little holes and mounted it in there. No regrets...it sounds great
